I don't see players like Curry doing that but the Dwight Howards and Carmelo Anthonys of the NBA sure as hell would. Get paid, be a star and not have to put in the work. That's a wet dream for them.

What part of Greg Oden's genes add up to a contribution? Maybe if they want to rule wheelchair basketball

Height and schlong length, I'd guess. I assume that the Chinese have figured out a way to modify the crappy knee cartilage gene.

I'm already picturing a reality TV Show, co-starring Kenny Powers. It's called, "We're Getting Paid, Bitches!"

I heard this same information 5 years or so ago. I think the talent level of Yao Ming is few and far between, that is why we haven't seen any come over since the failure of Yi Jianlian.

TBH, I don't believe the voting totals. I think they may discount some of Lin's Chinese vote. Yao was voted in as a starter because of the Chinese vote and they really wanted to open up the Chinese market so they went with it. The Chinese market is booming for the NBA and now they don't want to be embarrassed by having Lin as a starter so they discount his Chinese votes. This is just my own conspiracy, but I just don't see how Lin doesn't get over a million votes just from China.

Perhaps Chinese basketball fans don't think Jeremy Lin deserves to go to the All star game? Crazy thought I know.

Do we call it the world championship in the NBA? I thought baseball was the only sport that still used the word "World."

NBA has the same thing...World Champion Golden State Warriors...it's actually ridiculous...in a fair world, the Warriors need to now beat Tonga, and reach the Polynesian finals before they complete the World domination tour

Maybe we can only claim World Champ if we win the gold medal. Therefore the US is the best basketball country, so we can claim our best team is World Champ

To be fair, what other country is even remotely as good at basketball or baseball? Our country is SO good at baseball that the Olympics had to terminate softball as an event. We dominated the field. American football is another sport that no other country could even remotely compete in.

yeah but just because most of the rest of the world has no interest in competing, or it just isnt popular outside the borders isn't a default world victory, you still need a open world champs to claim the title.

its like down here with rugby union and rugby league, the All Blacks will more than likely murder most teams all the time, but for a world champion tag, we and other nations take on any and all competitors, even the USA :)

    ditto cricket etc

most sports are trying to be global games - this really is only true with basketball in the USA, the rest are pretty insular - so yeah, i spose the 'world' is relative to most.
