...uhh, if you really see this as a good trade, that's tantamount to backing Cashman, period...spin it however you like.

..."trade a crappy player in Nuno for someone with a small amount of possible upside" ...lol, gotta write that one down.

lol so if Cashman is a bad GM he can't make any decent moves ever. got it. all or nothing.

even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes, such as you being able to own/operate/remember your password/and post on a forum.

..."a small amount of possible upside"...classic, simply classic.

...the fact that I'm an asshole is irrelevant...but kudos to you for staying on topic.

...when did I leave the topic?...I didn't...but you already knew that. You attacked me in 2 separate threads tonight for your own misguided reasons...and I obliged you and gave it right back to you...you got what you deserved.

...now, do you think the D-Backs believe Nuno has "a small amount of possible upside"?

Whatever the unnecessary bickering is about, there is something that can be said about Brandon McCarthy having a pretty solid 2012 campaign in Oakland prior to Erick Aybar breaking his skull. Will he be all that great? Nah, unlikely. Will he be better than Vidal Nuno? Would be hard not to be. With that in mind, since that's all the trade was, the Yankees got relatively good value for an ex-48th round pick and someone they personally plucked from Indy leagues. We can't expect to see Pineda or Sabathia again this season, and Vidal Nuno being 3rd on the team in innings pitched was a trend that could not continue to be seen for the rest of the season, if this team has any deigns on reaching the playoffs.

Well, I mean, if you think I'm reading all of that and reacting, then you're mistaken. That would be stupid and pointless. It's not much of a move, but marginal upgrades can net an extra win here or there that would not be received otherwise, and think about how jam-packed this AL East and AL Wild Card race is. 87 wins might be enough to win this division at this rate, and there's a better chance at reaching those ~87 wins with McCarthy than with Nuno. Far more often than not, Vidal Nuno did not give this team a realistic chance to win when he started games.

...not sure what you're talking about when you say "reacting" and "mistaken".

...but regardless, projecting how McCarthy may or may not pan out with the Yanx is guesswork because we just don't know...neither do we know how Nuno will do in Arizona. As I said earlier I really do hope McCarthy excels and helps the Yanx because when you get right down to it, that's all that matters. But again, we'll just have to wait and see. But he hasn't put his team in a position to win very often this year either.
...people can use whatever numbers they choose to defend their stance, but so far McCarthy simply has yet to prove to any degree of certainty to be any better than Nuno. I hope he's lights outs though I seriously doubt he will be...but then again, he doesn't have to be.

He has a track record that indicates that he's capable of better performance, however, which is more than can be said for Vidal Nuno. Nuno is a slop-throwing LHP from Indy leagues; Brandon McCarthy has been an ML pitcher for almost a decade now, albeit with a spate of injuries. When Nuno goes 5.2 IP scoreless vs. a whittled out Boston team, it shocks us. It's not supposed to be this way.

...he may be capable, but he surely has not shown it so far this year...and I'll put more stock in more recent performance such as this year's vs what someone did 2 years ago.

...if McCarthy does well, I'll be tickled pink...until then, I'm skeptical.

Come on give the kid a chance. Nuno not pitching for the Yanks is worth 10 points on your blood pressure alone.

...like I've said a few times, he wears the right uni. He'll get his chance...and I hope he does well.

...and my BP is just fine.

Any upgrade over Nuno and the ability to eat more innings is worth the deal beyond addition by subtraction. But I get a Chacon lightning in the bottle vibe.

    LOL...nope no Cowboy gene their....

I've seen Livestock, Horses/Cattle, (all other farm critters too), in damn near every state....IMO-
McNeese Uni-Ag. Dept. is in a class of its own, as far as what little I know...!

    N. Ryan's old Cattle Ranch in Alvin was stunning, yet, nothing like the Buffalo Sanctuary East of Ft. Hays, KS. The largest Bison heard in the States, and a helluva sight to see....!

But then that's comparing apples and oranges, cattle/horses with bison.

Back to the point, I'd compared McCarthy to a mule, not a work pack mule either. I doubt he will carry His own weight for this Team....so we got a broken backed mule or ass....!

I want nothing more than a fluke to occur to be proven wrong tho'....!
