Being a Yankee fan requires no risk. Nothing is at stake. You know they are going to spend whatever it takes or pull whatever big-market strings they need to stay ahead of the league, and even though *GASP* they might miss the playoffs occasionally (and hear the wrath of the spoiled-ass fans, calling for every front-office head), rooting for them is easy. Being a true sports fan isn't easy. It's meant to be an investment.

Fuck, if I wanted my fandom to be easy, I would have become a Laker fan decades ago.

You are obviously too young to remember the 80s and first part of the 90s

and to be honest, most of the 2000's too.

1 world series win since 2000, and all that cheddar spent? Talk about wasted money.

True, but I think it was misspent competitiveness. Does that make sense?

They wasted a LOT of money on players that realistically they shouldn't have. I mean seriously, have you looked at their payroll? Them and Boston.

Lots of wasted money on talent not worth it.

I haven't seen a Mariners game until this NY game, is it always this empty at Safeco?

Usually worse. NY and Boston games always have a higher attendance than other teams
