How is it......that this is the best to perform
against a very good ball team. Three aspects
of the game must take place to produce a
very good team: (1) Offense (2) Defense
and (3) Pitching. When 2 of the 3 are not
    happening, there's little chance that
    the team wins.

Tonight the Yankees aren't hitting and the defense
is giving the Astros xtra at bats. Warren deserved
    a better fate.

Point taken but it would have been nice to be able to benefit from having your best players on the field.

...I dunno, if I was gonna give Gardner and McCann a day off it would be against a LHed pitcher...Keuchel was just lights out tonight.

    Brass Conversation

Hal Steinbrenner: Well Brian the team is not doing well
    Cashman: You're right Hal
Steinbrennre: That's Mr. Steinbrenner to you.
    Cashman, sure you're right sir.
Steinbrenner: So what are you going to do about it
Cashman: I'll demote Warren to the pen then fire Girardi
    Steinbrenner: Proper talk indeed.

Call me nuts Ron I just always felt that you ALWAYS give your team the best chance to win. I have no problem with giving two of my most productive players a day off but not on the same night. You rest Gardner tonight & McCann tomorrow night. JMO.

...you don't really think Gardner or McCann would have made a difference tonight, do you?

...Gardner is hitting .239 vs lefties...McCann .235 vs lefties.

...besides, now you've got both McCann and Gardner playing tomorrow night vs a RHer.

Considering there was a lefty on the mound I don't necessarily agree. Plus, nobody did anything tonight.

You tip your cap to a guy who owned you all night and move on. There's little to complain about when nobody did anything against the kid all night.

Okay maybe you guys are right, IMO I just wouldn't have rested them both on the same night. And props to the Astro starter, pitched a helleva game. And for that matter I still think Warren has a solid future as a starter.

Four game series....Yanks ran into a buzzsaw with Keuchel in game 1.
This isn't exactly a great surprise from him, he has tossed a shutout with 11 Ks less than a month ago. And yet, the Yanks did manage to threaten him in the 9th.
Very good LH, tough team to beat at home....sh!t happens.
Warren pitched very decently 5.2 IP, 5h, 1bb, 2 er, O HR...for his part, he kept them in the game.

Turn the page and try and get one in "W" column tomorrow.

if it were just any common lefty, it would make sense to play Lefty vs lefty, BUT this was NO COMMON Lefty, Keuchel is 7-0 at home, batters are hitting a BUCK 88 against him at home, with a .248 OBP.......

In other words, Dallas Keuchel IS the premium Lefty in MLB right now, and he showed why you rest McCann, and/or Gardner also......

they would of fared no better tonight vs Keuchel.....

Not one runner on 2nd base til the end of the game, when He walked Tex.....! Is it making sense yet, the premiere southpaw in the AL & MLB is not David Price, tho' he's a hot 2nd, its not Chris Sale, Cole Hamels, Liriano, Kershaw or Mad Bum, its obvious Keuchel is the up and comer, to the crown of Premier Southpaws......

I think the main reason and maybe the only reason the Yanx threatened in the 9th was because Keuchel was well over 100 pitches and was gassed.

Yep,.......Ya' gotta' believe, where did this Keuchel kid come out of Supermans Phone Booth..........

    Keuchel played here in Lancaster, and tho' he started 18 games, with a losing 5-8 W/L record, a .336 ERA, tho' he had 120.2 IP, with 97 K's, and 25 BBs' with 10 HR's in a pure hitters A+ park, it was easy to see Dallas would make the Big Club in a short time, just a matter of working out his mechanics. His fastball in A+ ball, was explosive.........Now he's painting corners like Randy Johnson, tho' its not right to compare Him to RJ, not a this time, yet, I never watched RJ in the Minors.....;

The Stro's have had all their #1 draft picks play here, as they've had those #1 or #2 picks for 4 years in a row now, and they are beginning to pay off, even tho' Keuchel was not chosen til the 9th round. Altuve was spectacular here in LandScatter......where the wind blows 30-50 mph most games, to RF......

last game I attended last year, there were 7 Hr's by the Home Team, and 2 by the Visitors.......

Another kid who I watched throw a 1 Hitter here, who should be in the Majors soon is/was: a kid SP named Vincent Velasquez. Now in AA, he Struck out 72 batter in 52.1 IP. That was His best game so far in the Minors. Sitting right behind Home Plate, next to the guy with the Radar Gun, I guessed he was throwing 99 mph, and when I asked, the guy said, He's throwing 110 mph, I said, Your fkng kidding me, no fkn way, he laughed, showed me his gun, and it displayed 99mph consistently.....

Look for him in 016 or 017, when the Stro's enter the ALCS.........I've said this for 2 years now........the Stro's are slowly building a dynasty, with some damn fine Draft Picks, over 4 years, hell they got all the top guys, which doesn't ensure success, yet guys like Keuchel was picked in the 9th round.........Odd how many #1 first round picks, never find success,

shaded of Steve Chilcott in 66......#1 pick, first round over Reggie, the #2 pick, Chilcott a Catcher, blew his arm out the 1st year in the Mets Farm System, and remained a Minor Lgr, for he next 7 years, before hanging it up......Steve was a graduate of my Alma Mater, approx 3 yrs before I graduated from H.S. NTM- JimS Slaton and Dwayne Murphy would follow..........but they lasted in the Majors, unlike Chilcott........

You got it Michael, and I'll add:

Trashman: "I'll demote Warren to the pen then fire Girardi, like I did Long, that will solve all problems, and we will once again, play win 4 WS in an 8 yr span.......establishing a dynasty once again".

Hank: with a Sports Shrink in the Room, "I'd have to sale the Team and Fire Myself first, but that's not gonna' happen, cuz my shit don't stink, I am the Boss"...

Sports Shrink: "You dumb asshole, the Boss, has been dead, you flipping Moron, but yes please fire yourself, cuz your causing 100 Million World Wide Yankee Fans, to have to take Prozac, just to watch your dumbass moves, you stupid fk, I quit"
