Cherry pick THIS ➡ Yanks in FIRST PLACE, here and NOW. I think this is clear and succinct. Get back to me with a REAL cherry "stat". Lmao
Losses suck, Whitley pitched a nice game against a potent lineup, we'll hope he keeps going forward in a positive manner.
Part of this loss has to fall on Girardi. You put this kid (Whitley) out there with that kind of lineup & expect a win. After the top 2 batters a minor league team could have beaten these guys. The kid deserved a better chance then what Girardi gave him.
Welp, that was your basic "tough loss". Great job by Whitley. My question, why didn't Girardi start the 8th with Betances or AT LEAST get Martin out of there as soon as he allowed a base runner? Betances did not pitch yesterday ..... I know Girardi is rightfully trying to lessen the work load of Betances, but I would've went to Betances as soon as Martin allowed a base runner. Oh well, maybe Joe was looking for a DP ball from Martin. Toronto better score ALOT of runs this year.....ALOT. Back to "two out of three" mode.
All I can say is what I have said - the Yanks believed Drew would rebound with a full ST and put up fairly decent numbers .....with maybe a dozen or so HRs. And, he could also be an insurance policy (back up) for SS and 2b as they eventually move in one of the kids for 2b - especially if he's stinking up the place. It'll work itself out...the Yanks will NOT continue to go with Drew if he sucks again. Either he starts to hit, or he'll lose playing time. Soon.
Fair enough. At this rate, soon....soon. Hang in there.....think of it as a "win-win" situation. Drew either begins to produce very shortly, or he plays (hits) himself out of starting job and we eventually see Pirela or Refsnyder sooner than later, and more Petit until then. The Yanks won't continue to go with BOTH Gregorius AND Drew hitting poorly. I believe Drew is the odd man out at this point.
A team gack was inevitable after the beantown brooming. The question is will they bounce back and win the series. We'll see what they are made of as a team during this series.
Of course Tom but it didn't have to be. I was always under the assumption that you field the team that gives you the best chance of winning. Tonight's line up was okay if you we're playing a high school school team.
Obviously they felt Tex needed a night off....and they needed hit bat and glove it turned out. They are gonna lose more of these games they should have won, rest assured. Coming up on 20% of the season and we had them pegged for 16-16. We're still in bonus territory.
