2 questions..... why was tex not put in last nites game for defensive purposes late in game? why was pineida taken out of this game with 101 pitches?
2 out in the 9th and the Yankees get "Carped" ah well Miller finishes. Pineda is the ace of this staff by default.
They should be able to get three outs in a 6-0 without all that drama. No reason to push Pineda's arm in May when you don't have to.
5R in 2 games for the pen where SP has been excellent. Tex has become Adam Dunn. Love the Ellsbury/Gardner 1-2 punch. Good to get the W nonetheless.
1-Texeira was feeling a pull in his lat that kept him out of that game. Precautionary and something we obviously hope won't escalate because where would this team be without him? 2-It's become obvious that Pineda is the ace of this staff. Why push him? Especially in a 6-0 game. If he had a no-hitter working then obviously he's out there.
Here's the part I like➡ goes yard again/ Yankees up 5-0 "All or nothing" has been good enough to be a big part of this team's ability to SCORE runs and help this team win games. He's under contract, he's been healthy, he's hitting HRs, knocking in runs and the Yanks will keep putting him out there......when/if he gets hurt, and we have a power outage.... ..,....let's not think about it.
Yes we're winning but picture these few small things.............. Teixeira can hit 230-240 (not asking a whole lot here.) And sometimes we just need base runners, Put your selfish ass aside & punch one to the left side. Drew can hit 220-230 Beltran can hit 240-250 Just some SMALL things that could make us even better & take some pressure off the starters. Like I said, not asking a lot.
...not just that, rick... these selfish and stubborn hitters who refuse to take what the shift gives them may hit a bomb here and there but they need to realize that by taking that easy gimme hit/bunt/slap to the vacated area provided by the shift, they are also not only getting on base but they are also saving the team an out during that inning.
Agree- not asking a lot to bat .240 or so. Obviously some of these guys aren't too bright regarding the shift. But for the time being - If Tex CAN come close to maintaining this HR/RBI/OPS pace throughout the season, I can live with his embarrassing BA and stupidity. Drew is another matter - if this jerk doesn't realize he needs to at least bring his BA / OBP close to average standards to stay in the lineup....then let him sink. So be it. I'm anxious for Pirela to get underway so we can see about this kid.
He's batting 205 with an OBP of.324 so I have to agree with the majority & say NO! I wouldn't be okay with it. And don't be surprised to see Pirela in tonight's lineup.
