A-rod, tits on a board, about one in the same, wish the Yankees could have swept but a series win OK given all that happened!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think the long season is catching up with A-Rod, batting only 152 during the month of August 7 for 46 in 13 games with 12 strikeouts.
Buster Olney retweeted Bob Nightengale @BNightengale 11m11 minutes ago #BlueJays manager John Gibbons on #Yankees rookie Severino: 'That's as good an arm as I've seen all year." I agree John
Toronto winning 11 in a row unrealistic, the jays sweeping the yanks at stadium, a fantasy. Yanks taking 2 of 3 there is just the way it is supposed to be. Good job yanks!!! Shame , another wasted opportunity from a young arm. Would be nice to pull a rabbit out of the skippers hat once in a while , to steal one away.
It's a damn shame that this kid isn't getting any run support. As for the Official scorer, a homer with no scruples. As for Beltran, he is a liability in the OF. Age shows in different ways in this game. The good feel about this pitcher is that he's the new blood desperately needed, and at least half his teammates now will not be around in 3-4 years. Also note, the Jays do not give games away, and against the Yankees the never make mistakes(defensively).
Beltran did a good turn with the bat this series but I will agree that he is dangerous in the field. Some of that problem will be solved if the Yankees bring up Judge next month. Next ten in the stadium and the Yankees will have to get up and roll, Cleveland and Minnesota are Teams the need to beat. The Stros a competitior. Would love to see the Yankees take all three series total up 7 wins.
The Yankees are going to have to find a way to move Beltran or have him platoon with A-Rod next season as a DH otherwise Judge won't get his shot anytime soon.
...as with most of Cashman's deals, in addition to over-paying and over-extending, he also foolishly provided Beltran with a NTC.
If you told me before the weekend they would take 2 of 3 I would've signed up for it in the heart beat. That being said the blah performance against a garbage pitcher was disappointing.
I just feel bad for the kid, he really deserved a lot more. I was hoping someone could have gotten him off the hook. Now he's 0-2 but he's only been given 2 runs in 3 games.
and has looked pretty damn fine for a 21 yr old. Last time I looked this forward to seeing a Yankee Pitcher, believe it or not, was Al Leiter's debut, heralded as their #1 Prospect........
When you look at his demeanor on the mound he doesn't look like a rookie. He really appears to have that veteran mentality.
...the thing that impresses me most about Seve is his control/location...seems like he hits the catcher's target nearly every time. And location is as important as having good stuff, probably more so.
Andd with McCann and Murphy behind the dish that location trend will continue. We all know McCanns abilities behind the plate, heard comments that the Yankee Staff feels pretty god with Murphy in there as well. I don't know who made the decision to bring up Sevey and Bird but it proved to be a good one.
I know 2 games is not often enough to determine a players fate, but Severino, IMO, has made his statement, and won't be going back down....... I think we found our Stealth Pitcher, without having to give up another long term decade; big bucks contracts, for a POS Premium Hi-dollar $$$ SP.......who would of probably blown his arm out.......
