...I guess that means they are going to go with Headley at 3B...why not trade him instead of Castro?...should not have resigned Headley in the first place. ...also suggests that maybe Gleyber Torres may start the season on the big club. But if Torres struggles badly, then what?...again, I'd much rather have Castro than Headley on the roster. Castro would give us more production at 3B and he's a big guy and could probably handle the position well.
...Lil, I hope that's the case...otherwise, like I've been saying, without another front end starter it does us no good to have Chapman locked up for the next 3 years because other than Tanaka the Yanx don't have much of a starting staff and Tanaka may opt out after this year.
Got photos of Steinbrenner field today. They did a hell of a nice job of upgrade over there even though is seems more for the "first class" people as Hal has stated. Saw some Marchand articles and picked up acronyms FOMO (fear of missing out FOBO fear of being off line. Seem that Hal figures that changes must be made so the millennials and younger fans can bring their tech toys to the ball game. Hey Hal how bout a winning club to fill those seats. Lets see Steiney and Cash swing into action and make some damn good trades and get rid of duds like CC, Ellbury, Headley and the like. Yeah add Pineda to that list. I remember being taken to games as a young fan digging on a dog and coke, watching batting and fielding practice. Digging the sun shine with my father pointing and saying see that guy, that's Ted Williams, see that guy, that's Bobby Shantz, see that guy that's Al Kaline. Instead of saying see that guy, son, that's Tyler Austio, or Gary Sanchez, they say make sure you bring your smart phone or lap top lest you be forced to watch the jumbo screen. With Posey rules, and Utley Rules, tainted players, and the ball parks becoming malls and swimming pools I sure wonder about this game. As a long time Yankee Fan what I want to see is quality worth the price of admission out on that field.
^^^I'm sure you may have already done this but if not, the next time you drive by a Little League field while they are playing, just for shits and giggles stop, park your car, sit in the bleachers and then just watch them play the game in its purest form...it will do your heart good and make you feel like you are a kid yourself again. ...quite a contrast when you compare that type of game to today's MLB prima donnas.
Oh yeah, there are plenty close by mu house. Grab a snow cone sit out there and watch. I played Little League myself . Found out I couldn't catch a cold, steal a candy bar, or throw out the garbage, but it was fun. Did much better on the sandlots playing 3 flies, 6 grounders, or work ups. My brother in law coached T-Ball back in the '80's and early oughts, used to go watch my nephews play. Funny though, sometimes the parents of those little leaguers are more childlike than their kids.
...I was glad to hear this; Sweeny Murti ✔@YankeesWFAN Gary Sanchez initially told DR he would play for them in the WBC. This past week he changed his mind, will stay with #Yankees all spring. 5:24 PM - 7 Feb 2017
Thanks for the update on the ST Headquarters, getting ancy here for some baseball.... ^^^ great input Michael, boy how time has changed. How major suckage has applied to the game we love. Won't surprise me to go a a game, and see kids watching their smart phone's over the game, or watching the game on their smart phones these days. Give me the old transistor and one ear phone jack, anyday...
I loved nothing much more than watching a weekly Little Lg game last year. Sad thing, major thing I've noticed, that I've never seen in prior times is: The districts each LL park is in, is zoned where half the city's parks are area's of outrageous high unemployment, and now high minority groups. City taxes at all time lows, for maintenance of city parks, fields, lights, those LL diamonds. LL is it's own non-profit entity, yet depends on city taxes for its fields here, and sponsors for equipment, or facility renovations, upkeep. -(A fine line between the two)- Sponsors are few unlike ever before, and LL is hit hard in half the areas, and is doing just ok in others. Not quit equitable to many kids, whose leagues don't have shit for balls, bats, et al. Profitless sharing anyone? Then the parents are robbed by boards that open up the snack bars, (using their own money) but don't give a penny back to the league, while the presidents and treasures show it was their personal monies that renovated, stocked and opened up the snack bar, and into their pockets all concession funds go. This issue went to court concerning two of eight district/zones and both cases LL was fkd, while the fraud/cons fled, and fkd each kid. That was a decade ago, and this practice continues, sucking any funds these kids can raise themselves, but parents screw their own, and never see it... Never have I seen a LL concession stand go back into anyone but Little Lg's pockets/coffers. This state has gone to hell, I'm surprised they haven't allowed a pedophile to coach yet, (but then who would ever know with these crooks)... This is the same city, that saw two major arguments in Pony Lg in one year. First a heated argument b/t two men, fathers, and the Ump. Ump ejected both hecklers, both grabbed baseball bats and beat the Ump, damn near killed blue. Half the stands emptied on the field, half fled. Half fought and carried on, the other half tried to break it up. A Month later, a Coach was in the middle of a game, saw his ex with a new beau on her arm. Waited 'til the game was in the last inning, slipped out of the dugout, got his shotgun out of his trunk, and blew his ex, her new lover, and himself away; in front of his or their own Son, and another 60 kids...as the game ended.... That was 22 yrs ago.... I went to a inner city Youth Basketball tourny yesterday, ... first matter of business 5 mins into the game, a pos parent cussed at the Ref, game was stopped until he could be escorted by little ladies... This clown was told he had to leave by several people, and instead of leaving proper to show his disdain, he exited out a non-exit door, which should of been locked, and led the the schools open campus....several adults scrambled towards him, but no real security to speak of..... and these schools, all of them have deputies usually on campus during school hrs... not that day. The guy left afterwards with little fan fare, yet these parents take a child's game, and ruin something they cannot comprehend, yet their kids do...
