...why would the Yanx even be remotely interested in either Uribe (almost 37) or Torres (33) ?...part of Cashman's plan to get younger and more athletic?

Actually there real target as a back up to Tex was either Justin Mourneau or Ike Davis but felt they couldn't get either enough ABs for them. Honestly I still expect to see Bird back around late August or at the latest the Sept 1st call ups. Remember boys & girls, you heard it here first.

...August?...September?...HA !...if Tex and ARod both fail to repeat last year's production, the Yanx could be 20 games out of first place by then.

...as far as Bird returning, I'd imagine they'll let him recoup and rehab from surgery all of this year...hopefully, we'll see him Spring 2017.

...I don't get the assumption that the Yanx are his best/only future suitor. His 1st FA season will be the 2019 season...a lot can happen between now and then.

I don't know Ron, but I see a ton of articles from different sources saying that he is the reason the Yankees are not signing any free agents. I also know that Bryce does want to play for the Yankees so who knows.

I don't see the Yankees holding up any deals to improve the club based on something that may or may not happen 3 years from now.

...the Yanx are not signing any FAs because they are already contractually obligated to current players and there's nowhere to put them...think about it, every position is already filled, not to mention many of the roster spots occupied by pitchers.

...believe me, when the time comes, Harper will have plenty of suitors besides the Yanx.

I get what your saying but you know these analysts like to create drama. MLB Network specifically said on Hot Stove that they know for a fact that Bryce wants to play for the Yankees. Maybe I watch too much TV. :bgrin:

...yup, that's it, Lil...they HAVE to write something, hell, ANYTHING in an effort to validate their jobs...but when you get right down to it, their slant on baseball rumors carries no more weight than yours and mine while sitting at a bar doing tequila shots.

...lol, it would probably be just as insightful...and at the very least it would likely more entertaining.

You never know, Yanks may get more offense and production this year from 2nd base, 3b, Ellsbury, combination of Gardy,Hicks and Beltran.....and possibly back up catcher- fellow named Sanchez who is widely considered to be a good hitting prospect may get more playing time than expected. Judge and Refsnyder may still be in the mix.....and signing a 30something year old backup in Bird's absence (such as Uribe) who can still hit to help bolster the overall team offense has NOTHING to do with the Yanks' "plan" of getting younger and eventually moving in their young players/ using the minor league system going forward as they move on dropping 40-80 million after 2016-17.
Nothing hypocritical or STUPID with the Yanks choosing to pick up a veteran for a year or two if they think he can help and improve the roster.

You really should stop embarrassing yourself with your anti Cashman prejudice.

By the way, the opening day avg age of the 2015 WS Champs Royals was
    29.6.......

Yanks have added two 26 yr olds Castro/Hicks with a good possibility of having a 22 year old (Sanchez) on the roster if not on opening day, quite possibly within a month or two.

Oh, I noticed where you said in another thread, Castro won't be playing his home games at Wrigley in a negative connotation....... are you aware of his career and 2015 Home/Away splits? Or shall I post them?
