I swear just when I want to believe CC can turn his game around, I'm reminded by CC's serving up another HR; he hasn't and probably can't make the transition to an effective finesse SP, without His 95-96 fastball........

Yep. I was one of the few in the world (lol) who thought there was a very fair chance CC could make the transition and adjustment to being an effective "finesse" pitcher and I was, and DID give him the first two months of the season to work out the kinks and find his "game" before I pulled the plug on him....then I took a look at his numbers since June and he actually showed some overall improvement over his past 8 starts...
He actually had an ERA below 4.00 without a real stinker (vs Philly) during that time and I WOULD cut him slack for ONE stinker since June over his last 8 starts....
But now he comes up with ANOTHER stinker tonight and he certainly can't afford lousy starts this frequently....he no longer has cache.

Here was my thread regarding CC .....and now we're back to square one.
Credit to those who said FROM THE BEGINNING he would never be an effective SP again and when the dust settles after this season and his final numbers are in, it probably looks safe to say definitively that he should no longer be expected or invited to be in the Yankee rotation.

Here was my recent thread on CC:

One of those signature games during what has been a fun and surprising season.

It could be simply an arm with far too many innings on it and a pitcher who just cannot transition to being more finesse than power. Others being able to do it has nothing to do with Sabathia. Obviously just serves up the long ball far too often.

    Gigantic WIN.
Biggest win (imo) of the year until the NEXT "biggest win".
    There will be others.... lol

Late inning comeback victory after trailing 5-1 vs a tough team at home and a closer having a great season.

GREAT WIN.....puts the brakes on starting the 10 game road trip 0-2, eliminates the chance of Minnesota sweeping the series while also giving the Yanks a chance to take the series.
No team gaining ground on the Yanks tonight - that's for dam sure!

    GO YANKS!

Arod is of course the story of the night but good for John Ryan Murphy.

CC Sabathia once again fails to live up to even his own mediocre performance standards. Put me in the board minority but I still think the Yankees need another starter (see Warren)

Happy for Alex, and sad at the same time. What he could have been.

John Ryan Murphy is a good young back-up catcher

He does get his share of hits, has a little pop, and he's not a slouch with att/sb.
    Had a minor league career .263 BA - .733 OPS, 29% att/sb.
Currently, in a small sample 192 ABs, has a career .260 BA, .643 OPS and a 30% success rate att/sb.
He needs ABs to tap into his power numbers which is primarily XBH "power".

...many feel this way about Sabathia...he's really not even a legit #5 anymore.

...he's stealing money from the Yanx and he's stealing a roster spot from more deserving pitchers.

...if there's any down side to a win like this is that it may even further Cashman's false sense of contentment at the trade deadline & that this team has all the pieces necessary to win a championship.

We fans are aware that Minnesota is a much improved team, Molitor and his on field mentor Hunter have done a nice job with that team. But when back to back Yankee starters are outscored 15 -2 in both games even an idiot like Cashman should figure it out. That game one loss to Hughes was an absolute disgrace. Followed by the Big Donkey getting behind 5-zip. You've got Warren on board and they keep running CC out there every fifth day, wake up and smell the coffee.

I know we get on them a lot but I'm confident if there's something reasonable out there the Yankees will pull the trigger. I just don't want to lose top prospects.

...mess, depending of course who the prospects are, I'd much rather give up an unproven prospect who may or may not someday make it to the big leagues, in return for an established to can contribute right away and help us down the stretch run.
...obviously Severino and Judge should be untouchable, but there are others and with McCann and Murphy the Yanx have the Catcher's spot tied up for the next few years...so for example what about the surplus of catching talent the Yanx have?...maybe Sanchez or ARomine...maybe someone like Jageilo...or who knows, maybe someone from the current roster.

I'd love to be in on one of the pitchers but the Dodgers will be in there as well. We shall see what happens.

^^^ I said earlier that I didn't think the Yanx would be players for another starter. But if you think about it, with maybe an exception of Tanaka (and even he has been erratic) the Yanx don't really have that "go to" guy, the one that gives you a lot of confidence every time he's scheduled to be on the bump.
...and though he's only been on the DL once this year, I cringe to think what would happen to this team's chances if he can't remain relatively healthy.
...so who knows?...maybe they will look to bolster the staff ...or maybe bring back Warren into the starting rotation.

This was the kind of heart/fire needed to get through the rest of the schedule. I hope they can keep this up.

Right now the one guy I would want to hand the ball to would be Warren or Eovaldi (short leash)+ pen
