It's hard seeing the offense go into a shell for six innings. Maybe they get lucky again with Gardner on.
Nice job Tex you piece of dogshit, 0-3 count, all that was needed was a single and you fucking strike out. Top five had two hits tonight, Shreve and Betances shit tying and winning runs. Bean stripped that Oakland team clean and the Yankees pee their pants every time they play them. Oakland has the season series again this year. Sabathia in tomorrow Jesus Christ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
who says A's pen sucks....... well, not when they pitch against these bitches. A-rod is sulking. Texshita looks lost. And the lowly A's look like champs against these whimps. Now those shit bosoxers are 5 games out. Real exciting division.....uh.....in whose damn head? This division is a sham.
Yep, Baltimore on the verge of a loss, Tampa on the verge of being swept in a double header. Toronto wins, and the Bostons hit 3 wins in a row. Could be interesting by all star break, meanwhile the front office does nothing about getting rid of Drew.
Thankfully Ellsbury gets back tomorrow which shifts Headley down and strengthens the lineup. Drew is like a toy that needs to be taken away from Girardi. Brian Roberts wasn't this bad and he was released. Yeah I get the fact that he's automatic with the glove at second but is that worth an automatic out in the lineup every night?
Agree - although there's no guarantee Eovaldi would've finished the 6th unscathed, it was, imo , and agreeing with you, still the "right move" if just to test Eovaldi and give him a chance to progress and improve his ability to pitch deeper into games. And it was that move which ultimately came back and bit Girardi in the ass as he lifted Eovaldi and brought in Shreve for 2/3 of the 6th inning. By Eovaldi not finishing, or not being allowed to pitch 6 full innings, this had a direct result on Betances pitching 1.2 innings which in THIS case, was just a little too much and was a product of Shreve pitching those 2/3 of the 6th inning instead of Eovaldi! Another one of those dozens of "hands on" decisions and choices a MGR makes during a season which isn't and can't be measured in an exact "stat" or category....the only thing that matters ultimately is the TEAM's W-L record.
...that's the way it's been for the better part of the year ...poorly constructed team at the present...not a bad team, but not a very good one either.
...inept management, period. ...and yes, the Sox were buried 2 weeks ago...now they're back in it. And you're right, the final first half series in Boston could make thing very "interesting". Yanx have had every opportunity to take this division by the throat but have played so inconsistently for the last couple of months or so. After an early high water mark of 21-12 this team has managed to go a paltry 23-27 since then. ...unless changes are made I still don't have much confidence.
I have to agree Ron, you just never know from one night to the next what Yankee team is going to show up. And seriously I don't want to sound like Pasta here (no offense) but........Joe made some moves last night that really me asking WTF? Like taking Eovaldi out with 2 outs in the 6th with nobdy on & ONLY 85 pitches. And not pinch hitting for Drew in his last AB. Hopefully tonight Ellsbury can give us the spark we need & if I see Drew in the lineup tonight I'll just think again..."JOE! WTF?"
Eovaldi didn't pitch bad last night but this year in general his problem has been that he's gotta learn to be more efficient. For someone with his stuff he throws way too many pitches and seems to be behind in the count more often than not. Yanx offense going in and out of hibernation from game to game doesn't help things either. Always easy to second guess the manager but the players have to do their job too...and 3 hits after the first inning just ain't gonna hack it. Drew has been a hole all year and Young needs to be platooned vs LHed pitching only. ...maybe Ells and Miller will help turn things around.
Look at the bright side, the Yanks batted .272 w/risp...not bad. Now come off the ledge, the sun is shining.
^^^considering the source, I'm guessing you mean Joe?...if so, who's his replacement ? ...Eovaldi's tendency is to get worse as his pitch count rises...after 75 pitches, opponents are batting .397 against him... with an OBP of .483.
