An absolutely terrible 1-2 pitch to Bautista burns the Yankees. Pinder I have no idea how you hang a fastball over the plate there. Just a hideous pitch.
AH SHIT! would it really have killed Miller to go out for the 10th inning? I mean he only threw 6 pitches in the 9th. Well unless the Yankees come back in this one the lead is cut to 3 1/2. I'll be curious to see if joe send up a pinch hitter for Mr. 190 Drew.
Guys forgive me here, I don't mean to sound like Pasta but seriously. Only throwing 6 pitches in the 9th there's absolutely no reason why Girardi couldn't send Miller out for the 10th inning. Absolutely no reason at all.
That makes 2-5 against Toronto during this season, not good for a division championship. Pitching was good, offense shit the bed thane you get some punk like Pinder to screw the pooch.
This one will be on the offense. Even though Pinder made a horrific pitch it's not surprising the Jays finally connected.
Then you lose Miller tomorrow when you might really need him. Using your words from earlier this year.
...I'm guessing it has to do with the fact that he may be needed again in the series...besides, scoring 1 run vs the jays ain't gonna get it done anyway.
The bottom line is that after tearing it up this offense has four runs in the last three games. The bats needs to wake up against a tough Price tomorrow.
...well, if he had gone out for the 10th he'd likely to be at 20 pitches. ...hey, we lost...hope for better on Saturday.
I was just going to mention this. After scoring 90 runs in 10 games as you said only 4 in there last 3. They couldn't have gone cold at a worst time. A 7 game lead less then 2 weeks ago is now only 3 1/2.
Yup, you can't score one run against the highest scoring offense and expect to win. It was a matter of time before someone like Bautista put one out to win it. Ellsbury while yes he homered to win it last night needs to get himself going. He's killing the offense right now out of the leadoff spot with his slump. .215 in July and so far hitting .211 in August.
...yup...coming into this series it wouldn't be a back breaker for either team to lose 2 out of 3...but neither team could afford to be swept.
...yeah, I mentioned that in the "base stealing" thread..and .Gardner has not been much better in July and August.
Just very frustrating losing two 2-1 games in the last three. Can't dwell on it I guess. Tomorrow is another day and hopefully the bats come to play.
You can hang this loss around the necks of whoever called for, and agreed to throw a fastball to Bautista if that situation ahead in the country 1-2. Primarily McCann....the rookie deferred to him. Not Girardi, not Cashman, not Drew, not Headley,... not even Garrett Jones...lol McCann called for the fastball, and the "obedient" rookie threw it. And please, no crap about missing the location.....they were ahead 1-2 on the count and the correct, soundest choice would've been to throw a breaking ball DOWN near the knees, .....and if Bautista would've taken it for a ball - throw ANOTHER one. So-- IF Toronto happens to take 2/3 or sweep the Yanks in this series, mark it on the calendar and refer back to it when you see SOME of the usual prejudiced Cashman bashers wailing away on Monday.
It was just terrible location but you can hang this loss on the offense. Toronto was eventually going to score. The Yankees not so much. That's now two 2-1 loses in the last three games. The offense needs to wake up.
I know the offense has struggled, "we" kinda already had a feeling Dickey was going to be tough tonight as I said in post #2 - prior to this game, he has been on top of his game, Last four outings averaging more than 7 innings and not allowing more than two runs in any....but I would've sure liked to prolong this game another inning or two. Toronto was 11-23 in one run games and 4-5 in extra innings. And I would NEVER risk a fastball to Bautista ahead in the count (1-2) of a tie game in that situation.....work on him with a couple of down breaking balls. McCann and Pinder did him a favor. Still time to take 2/3 but above all, Yanks MUST now avoid a sweep. We'll get 'em tomorrow.
