    1988 NLCS - memorable series.
The Hershiser year with his scoreless innings streak.
Scioscia hit a dramatic two run HR off Gooden in 9th inn game 4.
Turned the series around otherwise LA. was looking at a 3g-1g deficit.

I remember Davey sending Gooden back out there and thinking wrong move, then Scioscia bopping it, That playoff bomb coupled with the one Gibson hit in the World Series proved to be series changers. As Joe Morgan said the best team doesn't always win, that '88 Dodger Team should have lost on paper. They hit the Mets & A's over the head with a sock full of shit and went home winners.

Since June 1st there has been over 3 feet of rainfall in this area. Normally the rainy season is from mid-July through early September but got extended this year.

I put my $$$ on the Mets in 88, after a dismal Bums In Season performace of 1-10 vs NY. I honestly could not see how LA got away with that NLCS. NTM- Game 4s - 12 Inning adventure, (with the odds stacked against Scioscia's, and His effing 2 run HR off of Doc K), and finished with Hershiser coming out of the Bullpen, for the Save......

Then starts and throws a CG 6-Zip Shutout......I was as baffled as anyone........Tho' I often speak of the Bums, as I live not far North of Chavez Ravine, the Bums IMO, are about guys like Koufax, Drysdale, Campanella, fk Robinson, Gil Hodges, Furillo, Podres, Newcombe, ie 2nd tit players compared to the Bronx Bombers, always......

Orel's arm was never the same after 88. Another Lasorda/Perranoski fk up; allowing their SP's to wear their arms out until they were noodles.....I saw Orel throw several times in 88, and He was special, moreso than Valenzuela in ways.......

geezus.......if I'm not mistaken, hasn't Tampa Bay/St. Pete, had approx 60 inches of rain so far this year alone???

When I was working in Lake Charles, LA., our yearly rainfall totals were usually: approx 60 inches. In 98-99, we got hit with 80 inches (28 inches in but 24 hours), and 70" in 99.......

Funny thing, during the day we got that 28 inches, work was called off, no one could make it on those flooded streets. That very day, I'm watching the Weather Channel, which never even mentioned our rainfall, rather they showed San Diego with its 6 inches of rainfall, and Homes were literally washing away...........no bayou system.....!

I cannot complain weather wise. The summer here ended up being fantastic. We haven't had much rain at all so as they say I guess we could use it. It looks like it's going to wash away the game tonight for sure. I just checked out the radar online for the New York area and there looks to be some really heavy stuff on the way.

I just looked at the extended radar in motion and it looks like it's finished at 8:15 pm EDT, but those things aren't always accurate. Btw I just read the ESPN boards to kill time.....what a bunch of asshats over there...... lmao

It goes to show anything can happen in a series because while they were good there was no way in hell the 88 Dodger team was better than the Mets. The fateful homer tied the game and after winning in extra innings the rest was history. Plus, it was one of those situations where you just know the Mets weren't beating Hershiser again in game 7.

Oh....then maybe it will clear out enough to have a late start and get the game in. I would actually rather have that then a double header this weekend. As for the Reddit folks the only thing I know of them is they still have an unhealthy obsession of Ron to this day.

Yep, beat two teams who each won at least 100 games.
1988 Mets lead N.L. in scoring and ERA. Ouch!

In a seven game series the percentages in all sports always favor the so called better team winning. It certainly doesn't always happen as while the Torre Yankees had a lot of success they had some bad loses as well.

Oh yeah that's just a bunch of complete nonsense. That's why I vowed to use it again once they ended the regular message boards.

I never really check them out all that much but I do remember seeing some screen names referencing you. Also, I think it might of been Rick at one time mentioned there was a discussion going on about you over there a while back. I wouldn't expect anything less from people who turned leaving ESPN into some war.

...from time to time I read a few posters comments on reddit (stoney and a couple of others) but that's about it...I got blamed for some things on the espn board before it closed down, some were true, most were not...but in some of their minds I was guilty and there was no way I could prove otherwise, so denying it did me no good.
...if those individuals still hold a grudge there's not much I can do about it...not that I care.
