nice statcast catch by Ells in R-CF. Good to see he can still cover ground, and make catches. Damn good thing #1- Ells didn't have to make a throw back in, after the catch..... #2, a split second earlier of a swing by FU Cano, equals HR...

as it is with Cruz's bomb blast, does this guy's trainer keep Nelson one step ahead of PED testing, with the newest latest masking agent; (the same trainer Big Sloppi is using)...

    Seattle 7, Yanx 5,

thread to post revised, in stay awake sleep mode, not....to much back n forth to fall asleep...

8 earned runs in his last 7 game appearances, stellar....!

a 10.80 era, over his last 7 games, not the 5.XX they showed on the Screen for the year...

Judge got a tough call. Lets see if Tex can do something for once.

Tex you're an f'n bum. Too bad Austin isn't hitting because you're useless and should've just walked away with Arod instead of embarrassing yourself. 3-1 count against a pitcher in trouble and a useless fly ball.

Judge is making an impact just by his sheer size on other teams announcers, and hopefully will continue to awe n daze 'em with his bat, if he can only bop a couple more to silence his critics...
Tex is another one who I ask every day he plays, WHY is he even on the Roster taking up valuable space.

Imagine if Bird were healthy, & played well all year, we might not be having this discussion, as Tex would of been history???? He still can be, its not too late....

What a complete joke. Gardner is another one who can go.

I think I've heard "Frank Howard" 10 times this last week alone, from BSPN, MLB-TV shows, games et al. Maybe 2 dozen times.

Judge if he can stay healthy, and live up to his billing, could impact this game for a decade to come..as can many of these new prospects, and its going to be enjoyable watching, regardless, something's gotta' give...

    ...^^^

at this late point in the season, PS play not to be had. A dozen plus upper prospects in hand. Why not begin to mop up now, those like Tex, Gardner, Headley, et al.; whose position and output are non-Yankee Worthy...

Thankfully, Tex's contract takes care of itself. Perhaps this winter they can find taker for Gardner an McCann. They will likely have to eat some money but since Ellsbury is unmoveable and will be here I don't want to see another season with both him and Gardner. Headley they likely have to live with in a platoon situation.

From a batting standpoint the top of the ninth inning was the epitome of this team. A great opportunity wasted against a guy who was struggling from batter one. Tex was the real killer and one of those situations where they would've been better off see if struggling kid Austin could make something happen. 3-1 with the tying runs in scoring position and a fly ball that couldn't even get a run in. Then of course nothing from the top of the lineup.

Let's see here.....Yanks want to give the "kids" playing time and see what they can do.....
Okay....Yanks have tying runners on 1st and 2nd with one out in the 9th inning....Tyler Austin due up- so what does THE MGR....not the GM do?
He sends up a thoroughly washed up slug Tex to PH for Austin....Tex is batting. 197, runs like he's carrying a refrigerator on his back and is a
prime DP candidate, strikes out about once every 3 times AB....he doesn't get it done.....now two outs....and guess who's up with the game on the line with tying runners in scoring position and two out???.....yep,....the one and only Bret MR .257 Gardner.....the guy who was AGAIN placed in the leadoff spot.....GAME OVER.

Nah, Girardi is only trying his best WITH A FLAWED ROSTER ....which is totally the GM'S fault......oh yeah.....the Yanks seem to be the only team with a "poorly constructed roster".........and unfortunately one of the few teams with a terrible IN GAME manager.

We'll never know what Tyler Austin would've did in that clutch 9th inning situation...because the fukn yellow belly Girardi chose to go with a washed up slug (Tex) who is not only embarrassing himself, but also the team.

Part of helping the "KIDS" develop is to leave them in crucial situations and allow them to feel and react to big league pressure.
    But not in Girardi's "book".
    He shits his pants.

Joe the genius is a "brainy" type from a big time university.....lmao.....
...and Obama is a "Harvard Man".....

And I'll gladly prefer to march in step with good old mid western boys, Southern boys, rough and tumble big city kids, poor Mexicanos, California beach boys and tough Puerto Rican U.S. INFANTRYMEN instead of these puke face strawmen.

    ...^^^ definitely. Deflating rally killers.

Austin deserved the shot, good point, give it to him now, esp when the game is on the line; put him in the limelight which he's going to have to perform under. The more practice, the closer to perfection...? Let him tap dance now, since he's got to sooner or later...

after all Tex is toast, and everyone can predict his outcome AB...

    ...^^^ LOL.

...fwiw, I didn't get to watch the game but between the comments here and the box score I'm getting more and more excited about next year. Since Jeter retired, this team has no soul, no "face of the franchise"... but now that this roster is finally getting a substantial facelift, the old familiar passion for The Pinstripes may soon replace the more recent period of being forced to watch poorly designed mediocrity.
...needless to say, there are more moves that need to be made and hopefully they will be by opening day next year...gotta say that it's just nice to have something to look forward to where the Yanx are concerned for a change.

I know everything can't be fixed with a snap if a finger and one trading deadline. It's just that if you follow them from game to game you're going to get frustrated. Be that as it may I'm certainly looking forward to the future. Enjoy what's here now and what may be coming in the future.

...yup, and that's the thing for me now...I'm no longer frustrated with this team when they lose because at least instead of having to watching crap trot out there every night I'm now seeing the light at the end of the tunnel...and that light appears to be very bright.

...amazing what a month can do for your overall attitude.

Sanchez was named player of the week.
Last Yankee catcher to be named player of the week?
    Thurman Munson.

Having a good all around offensive and defensive catcher is such a valuable significant asset giving his team an added advantage.
We all remember the Munson years and some of us also Yogi...and of course Posada although -imo- he was a slight notch below those two in overrall defensive ect intangibles....but certainly an excellent catcher in his own right.
You can just feel and sense a certain presence when the team has that "special" type catcher who has quickness behind the plate, becomes a leader for the pitchers with the ability to erase baserunners and actually makes them wary of taking liberties.....a pitch may get away and roll a couple of feet away but the baserunner often hesitates and stays put instead of risking it. So many "little things" brought to the table by a special catcher and being a good offensive force is the icing on the cake.

A couple of weeks does NOT make a career, but Mr. Sanchez so far is one of the brightest lights to come along for the Yanks in a long time.
