I don't care how bad Bird might be against LHP, Frazier is equally incompetent against ALL pitchers. I'd rather ALWAYS have Headley at 3B and Bird at 1B regardless of who is pitching.

Gotta credit Tanaka to this point, he's coming from behind in counts to get people out. He may have just a smidgen of the lucky horseshoe up his butt!

This team simply freezes up when the bases are juiced. The Yankees should have a couple more runs that what is showing on the score board. So Cleveland plays rival no problem, crushing Kansas City 12-0. Baltimore still ahead of Boston.

The Red Sox making it interesting with another loss. Back to two games back in the loss column.

Cleveland will be a tough assignment, Boston draws Toronto. Hopefully the Yankees can pick up another game. For the Red Sox Series the only pitching match up totally fouled is game four with Sale vs Garcia. On that one you'd worry about Garcia screwing the pooh. The Yankees I think respect not fear Sale. For all the alleged hoopla on how good Boston is the Yankees still hold the season series lead so they have played Boston tough.

Too bad about some of the blown games against them but those things do happen in a 162 game season.

...Bird is just coming back from rehab...I don't think it's smart to just throw him in there every day at this point.

...the Yanx face another lefty in Kluber on Monday...I'd be surprised if he starts then too. And though Frazier is not an offensive beast, I wouldn't call a career OPS of .826 vs LHed pitching exactly "incompetent".

At full strength I'm glad the Yankees have some lineup options and a pretty solid bench. They have a good shot to make one more run at taking this division. We can only hope right?

...Mess, moving forward, I like the Yanx's chances vs Boston down the road and the PS...Sale has not proven to be the Yanx'x kryptonite and with Tanaka and CC pitching better along with Gray and Severino, I think we have a shot...especially if we can somehow win the division.

...I just hate the one game "win and you're in" WC format.

It's tough which is why the top wildcard and the home game is important. That being said yes they have to go full throttle for the division and what looks like the Indians in the divisional series.

Kluber is right-handed and bird needs to be starting every game going forward at first unless he needs a breather. The kid is healthy, looks good at the plate and in the field and has rested for 2 years. If Girardi is serious about producing to play Frazier need to be on the bench as he is sucking ass. And he is only batting one something against lefties!!! Play headley at 3rd against righties and I would play torreyes against lefties as the kid is batting over .300 for christs sake. And another thing Ellsbury has played a lot better as of late and Hicks has been in a slide so he needs to be filtered in there a bit more . And the last thing the binder needs to do if were rewarding production is getting that bomb bag garcia the hell out of the rotation and reinstating monty who should never have been taken out in the first place. Garcia should be strictly a long reliever and a mop up man which is how he is pitching.

there is NO way bird sits his second day back regardless of who is on mound. there are only 30 games remaining in a very tight race, if, he is to be our 1b rest of way going to PS.

joe's way of thinking WOW , so when is he gonna let bird see a southpaw, in the under ground cage right b4 a do or die one game wild card game?

Per yes network broadcast team Girardis theory of operation. Weave Birdin and out of the lineup as needed to build up confidence and insure he stays on the field for the remainder of the year. First game he got a hit and walk. Pinch hit late into todays game got a couple of RBIS. Today Castro was DH while Toe got in there at 2nd base gives Castro a break. Toe can also spell Di Di and Frazier. Girardi has a ton of options, knows it and will use them well.

...I will therefore be subjected to a self imposed disciplinary action which will prohibit me from indulging in the consumption of Chee-tos for one week.

...^^^THIS...Joe is going to gradually move both Bird and Castro in and out of the lineup and also use them as a DH on occasion until they get used to playing almost every day...to be honest, I was surprised that Castro was called up before Bird because reports had Bird well ahead of Castro as far as rehabbing goes...plus, Castro's hammy has already put him on the DL twice this year...we don't need to lose him again.
