Nice job Tanaka and Sanchez. I can't believe the Mariners walked him twice intentionally. I wonder when the last time that happened to a rookie.

O's of late have been giving up a lot of runs, but their hitting has escalated. And they have been
beating up on National's pitching. Like to see how the New Kids On The Block come to play
against divisional foes. Should be fun to watch. But, then again, pitching will be crucial........
    as always.

Some of the older IBB stats were not kept until the 1950's...but as near as I can tell, it's a record.

So Tex here's the deal, Sanchez was IBB twice to face you. The second time your team was ahead 4 to zip, and the bases were loaded. There's a spoof line on "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" beginning "They asked me how I knew, my career was through" You missed over 300 games in five years why hang around till the seasons end this year.

Yep, saw that, but those moves got me thinking that Joe is going to have to put up a bopper behind Sanchez. Love to see Judge get going. Per this mornings standings the three East Leaders are tight as a tick. Yankees have 23 games remaining with those three the final 10 in succession so they will have a say in the outcome. This year those kids will get OJT and a pennant race in one swoop. Be nice to see the Yankees scramble some eggs on the way.

Great line by new yankee announcer yesterday after sanchez crushed his homer into upper tank "this monster keeps eating" as he circled the bases. And when was the last time anyone can remember a team walking a rookie in the majors for a couple of minutes twice in a game. The ball also to me seemed farther than 420. The ball jumps off this kids bat with that nice easy swing like a young miguel cabrera. Sounds like a golf ball being struck. Trying to think at this point what young catcher this reminds me of with the rare combination of power, defense and a cannon arm that teams shortly will no longer be running on. It is a sacrilege at this early point but the last guy with tools behind the dish like this kid was that kid from cincinnatti in the 70's whose name rhymes with wrench. And Joe get fucking heller in a god damn game already and stop bringing in betances up 4 and 5 runs in the ninth.

Not too surprising considering who the next batter was- Tex, batting below .200 and striking out every 3.5 times at bat with an anemic .330 SLG% .....this begs the question, why is such a weak hitter batting behind Sanchez? You would think the MGR, any MGR would want better protection for Sanchez especially when he's been the hottest hitter- I guess we have to ask our MGR about this brilliant strategy- he likes to remind everyone that he has an obligation to put the team and the PLAYERS in position to succeed. (chuckle)

As for rookies being intentionally walked twice in a game...I would tend to believe it's happened before.
There's been many "rookies" who have had great seasons and were considered to be dangerous hitters.....and if the MGRs for some of those rookies were dumb enough to have a hitter with similiar numbers as Tex batting behind them, it could have happenned more than expected.

    Joe The Genius!
