Inept pitching will make bad teams look good. For all the praise that people give Cashman,
they are ignoring the fact that the Yankee farm system is pitching-starved. Since pitching
comprises 75% of the game, Trashman is delusional thinking Yankees will make a
    legitimate impact in playoff games.

Except last year they were 1 game away from the world series.
You make it sound like there is this vsst population of outstanding pitchers in the majors that teams are loaded 1 thru 5 with aces.

^^^^^it only takes one team that is loaded with pitching and that was Houston who prevented the Yankees
from moving on. And it may happen again. The point I am making is Mr. Cashman is not developing pitchers
to be on the parent club. BTW, being one game away means they did not have that pitcher to get them over
    the hump.

^^^this...in 4 games vs the Astros in Houston the Yanx only managed 3 runs in 4 games...and this year the Astros have also added Gerritt Cole to their staff, who so far this year is a CYA candidate. He's made 10 starts so far and has been dominant in every start. ERA 1.86 WHIP 0.83 BAA .169

The ERAs of Houston's 5 starters are; 1.06 1.86 1.94 3.20 3.43 ...like I said, their staff is just plain nasty.

Cole Hamels emerged and took us to a loss. It's OK. We can aim for 2 out of 3 Wednesday.

And yet they lost 3 of this year..

No doubt the stros have a very solid starting pitching staff...but lets not forget they went out and bought verlander..without him..they are not champs

In six games against two weak teams this Yankees Staff has been taken to task.

...not sure what your point is, Al...what do 3 games in early May have to do with PS games in October?...and of course the Astros "bought" Verlander...they "bought" Gerritt Cole this year too.
...the Astro's starters are not just "solid" they are by far the best in the game...and the Yanx's staff is nowhere nearly as good...and if the Yanx' staff is to be on par with Houston's by October when it really counts, it means they will have "bought" at least one more top end starter of their own.

...well I'm sorry All...but Cashman didn't "develop pitching" ...if you can show me who and where he did, I'm all hears...and the Yanx pitching doesn't compare to the Astros...it's not even close...if you can show me where I'm wrong, I'm all ears.

...and of course the Yanx "can" beat the Astros, because after all, any MLB team "can" beat them, but the question here is "will they". The biggest room for improvement is from the pitching staff...and the Yanx need more/better pitching, period.

Most of us have been saying for years, this Yanx team lacks Quality pitching, both starters and relievers.

Tho' t/Yanx went beyond everyone's expecations last year. I didn't hear one person last year say at t/start of the season: this team is headed to post season; let alone the LCS...

It's easy to underachieve as a Pitching Staff; and overachieve as a Team, when a Team averages 5.3 runs per game for t/entire 017 Season, and 5.91 runs per game (018)...

    Or to the OP: i.e.
A great Offense can make sub-par Pitching look good, and-
