This game has got to go down in the Win column.... los tres bomberos.... should mop this one up, a Win on one hit, that would be something, tho' Odorizzi wouldn't think so....
If only the King of Honky Tonk, Hank himself had of wrote a song with the lines: "don't let the door hit you in the ass, you've stayed to long, so now you can kiss my ass, your promise faded fast, odd we do better without your lame lazy ass, doing the one thing you best, grazing in the grass"... So don't let the door hit you in the ass.....
Tex is hitting by Braille this year....special bat, gloves, helmet (with mic to pick up sound of the ball)... With each HR, he donates one million to the Hellen Keller foundation, tho' these days, I think he's revised HR to HIT....
102 mph strike 3....a thing of beauty, a big swing, a bigger miss... Hicks saves face with that OF fly-Out #2, he had to step back for. The Trop, that says it all. I can't think of any Stadium, in which I'd not ever want to play in, than the Trop...perhaps the Old Polo Grounds, ...? nah, the Trop makes TPG look like Central Park...for baseball...
Nice pitching performance today, thanks to Castro for the win. The last time the Yankees won a game with only 1 hit was 1914.
Girardi said that he used Teixeira to pinch hit because Ackley hurt his Right Shoulder diving back to the bag. He will have a MRI as per Meredith Marakovits.
Big horseshoe up the Yankees Butts today. Odorizzi threw a better game than Nate with both not getting much support. Reminds me of a game Clemens threw against the Bostons losing 1 to nothing an a bomb hit by Trot Nixon. Sometimes a smidgen of luck has to accompany the plays and we saw that today. On the other hand this year we've witnessed Tank lose some toughies as well. As much as I hate the God Damn Rays I feel a bit for Odorizzi. Without looking it up I think the last time the Yankees were no hit by a single pitcher was 1958. Hoyt Wilhem was the pitcher of record and that was against the Mantles, Berras, Bauers and the like.
It's too bad guys like Jack Curry have to go from reporting to becoming a Yankee shill. Yeah get to .500 and then try to make some moves up in the division. Lets ignore that this team has a third baseman hitting .235, a first baseman hitting .193, a left fielder at .221, a catcher at .230, a DH at .170, a fourth outfielder at .194 and an extra infielder at .148.
Good stat Lil'....I did not know that/this.... The beauty of Baseball IMO, and always has been: "History is made daily, for a sport that is 134 years old".
Yanks have recently been using Judge in LF and CF. Don't know how he handles those positions but it doesn't take a genius (Cashman included) to see possiblities how this could affect the roster this season.
Also heard there's been six one-hitters so far, and three of those games have been won by the teams with one hit.
