80....playing around 500 until Sept call ups and the kids get a chance to break in their pinstripes. First losing season since 92.
Puaay ass Joe Girardi.....he couldn't leave Warren in the 7th inning AT LEAST until he allowed two base runners? This guy Girardi has this reputation as using the bullpen well, resting players in a timely fashion but he may be also restricting, or slowing down the growth and progress of young SPs. And Lindgren should get "the call" any day of the week so to speak, before Carpenter any day of the week until he shows HE can't do "the job".
Nice job by Warren tonight against a good team. Some on this board would like him back in the pen, but to this point he has stepped up a bit. As far as pulling him seemingly premature Girardis team needs wins. Betances is bad ass dude out on that mound. A win, I'll take it. Get one more and the Yankees will have the season series over the Royals.
And the Yankees wake up tomorrow on May 27th- in First Place. As fot Warren, I can't even believe I'm hearing questions from the "media" whether or not he returns to the bullpen if or when Tanaka returns...are they crazy?- he"s just pitched 3 straight games going more than 6 innings in each of them and hasn't allowed more than three earned runs in either game. Last three starts - 19.2 IP, 7 ER. Has any other Yankee SP pitched as well as Warren over their last three starts? Oh well.....he helped pitch us back into 1st place.
As inconsistent as the Eastern Division is we might see two or three teams tie the top spots at .500. That would really put a wrench into playoff plans. Trade deadline this year may be more important than we think. Still hearing about how Boston has all these "trade chips" but no action taken
