Note to Boner: gonna pitch Gray to give the remaining staff starters an extra day of rest because of the play-offs. First you have to cinch a spot which this team has not done. Given the quality of play since the Miami series they have not demonstrated IMO that the desire for the play-offs even exists. Minnesota for 3 games, I'd be careful here, the Twinkies will be seeking a measure of revenge for last year and would love to either take or sweep this series. This team doesn't play to win, it plays not to lose, big difference.
^^^^.... This board would be all the less wiser without you Michael. Perfect words perfect they "play not to lose".~!!~ Imo- this is the very reason they play down to competition...^^^ Week 23 recap. Simply because I have not woke up yet, have not had a cup of coffee yet, and have nothing to say yet...
I actually picked up that "playing not to lose" which I heard a broadcaster say about the '80 Yankees who said plying scared. Us old Yankee Fans remember that '80 season which is some what repeated this year. The Yankees started strong had a 8 game lead over Baltimore by mid August. The Orioles came into Yankee Stadium and swept a 3 game Series reducing the lead to 5. Later on the Yankees came into Baltimore for 5 and dropped three. One of the two games they actually one was started by Gaylord Perry. The one game I attended in that series was a 10-1 Baltimore win. The Orioles won 100 that year, the Yankees won 103 and the Orioles sniveled about a playoff system because they took the season series from the Yankees. I still have old school traditions on that, 2nd place is no place you lose tough shit. This year we have seen the team start strong then go into a spin from July on. I'd say the Division is pretty much out, there is no mettle or moxie this team has compared to the '78. That game last night was a real pisser and we've seen many more akin to its kind. There is talent on this team but I don't think the manager and coaching staff are up to their assigned or implied tasks. Damn shame what has happened to this franchise.
You know what people say.....it is the little things, the proof is in the details that make or break any business, in this case, this year’s Yankee baseball team. On the surface this team is a winning team, but nothing’s won^^^^^. Both from a management point of view and on the field product, there are more questions than answers. Tonight David plays Goliath.....and Goliath has everything to lose. In all honesty the Yankees are looking over their shoulders knowing the A’s are approaching fast. They should take these games to Minnesota & take care of business. The only thing standing in their way is themselves.
^^^^.... To the above to post.. Two words about the 1980 season. Kansas Shitty... Ironic how Dick Howser would defect to Kansas City
Area forecasters here in northeast said Sept-Oct-Nov would be warmer than usual.......... they lied if today is any indication.....58* with a chilly rain.
^^^.... As the ol' saying goes- "you don't need weatherman to know which wau the wimd blows" (B.Dylan) They have no clue themselves, and get paid big $$$ to bullshit us.... Winter of 83- I was driven home at 11am in 2 feet of snow. The weather forecast in the early early morning said light chance of rain, partly cloudy. So I drove my motorcycle to work. On the way home the weather report said partly cloudy slight chance of rain... a WTF moment... Me Bike sat at work for 1 week until the snow melted...
^^^^..... This- Yankees need to cut ties with Jacoby Ellsbury, once and for all- One thing I definitely disagree with in this article says: "Trashman is a genius at obtaining Talent".... you take what you can get what is offered and work with that. https://yanksgoyard.com/2018/09/10/yankees-jacoby-ellsbusy-cut-ties/
Yanx cannot continue to rest on their Laurels of their previous hot fuego rojo streak.... Yanx- are 5-6 in their last 11G , but are 14-8 in their last 22G and 21-12 in 33G since 8/6...are 80-45 since 4/21. At 89-54 (.622), are tied with Houston (89-54, .622) for the Majors' second-best record and second-most wins behind Boston (98-46, .681)... the Yankees and Red Sox have held (at least a share of) the Majors' two best records for 116 of the last 130 days (since the end of play on 5/3). Are 35G over .500, 1G below their season-high watermark...have been 36G over .500 four times this season (last: 89-53 at the end of play on Saturday)... prior to this season, had not reached 36G over .500 since they were 86-50 at the end of play on 9/4/10. Are 8.5G behind Boston in the AL East... lead Oakland by 2.5G for the first AL Wild Card spot. Play 16 of their final 25 games on the road (are 3-3 so far). Have lost just 9-of-43 series since 4/19 (26-9-8). Own the Majors' best record when their starter tosses at least 6.0IP (56-9, .862)...have the second-best record when scoring first (62-13, .827) behind Boston (65-13, .833).
I know it's going to be a great day when I see this flying overhead in the morning. I spent an hour trying to get a video shot of this B2... My video did not turn out too much sun glare. However here is a video I keep; when I can't get a better shot.... I know it's going to be a good day when: - welcome to my desert MY Desert and only mine: this B2 is hotter than the Mojave....
If we actually sweep the Twins I would be surprised. Back in June, I took them as a win column number.
