Yao is more simmilar to shaq then hakeem mainly because of size. Both shaq and yao stand over 7 feet and weigh over 300 pounds and are the biggest players on the court no matter who they play. Hakeem used his dream shake and fadaways because he rarely had a size advantage against other centers, shaq and yao on the other hand always have that advantage in their favour. the only difference is shaq uses that advantag yao doesn't. There's no reason yao shouldn't be able to back down players like shaq does on a continual basis, he even has an advantage over shaq in that he can make free throws, a hack-a-yao strategy would be useless. Yet for some reason he sticks to his fadeaways.
If Yao tried to play like Shaq he'd be in foul trouble before he stepped on the court. He doesn't have the balance or agility to play like Shaq. Yeah, he shoudl take advantage of his size and make the most of opportunities close to the basket. But he also has incredible touch and a solid turnaround jumper that he should utilize as well.

Why are you nitpicking on the tiny things, when in fact, 55% FG puts you in the top 10 in the NBA?

Guys like Rawle Marshall, Mark Madsen, John Thomas, Brian Grant, Jason Maxiell, and Shavlik Randolph dominate the field goal percentage leaders list this year. Gee, maybe the Rockets should trade Yao for Rawle Marshall. He's not missing any shot he's taken and number 1 in the league at shooting the ball. Oh, wait, he's only taken one shot. Over last season, Yao shot 55.2%, good for third in the league. I'd trust a whole season's stats over a month's, that I can tell you for sure.
