You guys are overrating James White. If he is really that good, there is no way the Pacers would waived him, especially when he's still just a rookie. Now speaking of altheticism, he is good but we already have Mo Evans for that job. Kobe will probably log 40min/game, that's mean only 8 mins left if you're SG. Of those 8 mins, Phil prefers to play Mo Evans than James White. I can imagine James White playing in our D-league if we acquire him. It's pointless to acquire a White just to let him plays in the D-league. Right now, our roster is set at 15. In order to acquire White, we need to cut Mckie. But I would rather cut Mckie to acquire Jalen Rose than White.
To kobe4life, would you rather keep Shammond or Devin Green, or would you rather release one and sign James White. Although White may never become a superstar in the league, neither will Shammond (who has shown he is capable of playing Chucky Atkins defense) or Devin Green. James White at least has a lot of potential. It's a low risk high reward type move IMO

We brought Shammond Williams all the way from Europe to the NBA just to waive him for James White? We didn't brought Shammond here to play defense to begin with. I believe the Lakers' initial plan to acquire Shammond was for his instant offense off the bench. The guy can shoot and at least provide something for us. But James White? he is altheticism but what else? The thing is we already have Mo Evans. The only spot I can see James White playing is in the D-league. I'm quite positive that Mitch wouldn't want to open up a rooster spot (waive Aaron Mckie) or waste 1.8mil on Shammond Williams for him. Aaron Mckie, at least, has some value with his expiring contract. You're right, he has a lot of potential. But I don't think we see that day from him. Why? because our record indicated that any swing players playing behind Kobe would never blossom in a Laker uniform. It is just one of those bad luck thing I guess. Let's face it, recently we are not the best oraganization at developing young swing players.
you also have to think about injuries, you can't think that its 100 % sure our two SG's will be healthy during the whole season, all the time..
