Exactly what I said. He took 5 years to become a below average player, because if he was a good player, he would have offensive moves. PERS does not tell the whole story. I have seen the guy play in many games. He plays hard I will give him that. But he also does a lot of things that loses teams games, and he is not physical enough to defend at his position. Then when you are considering the Blazers, you want to add a guy who can't score? We haver enough problems scoring.
Absolutely not. Not even straight across. I think Lamarcus will be absolutely perfect playing alongside Greg. Bosh, not quite so much. Plus, I'm a huge fan of Lamarcus the person.
His 2 PERs in the 20s were in seasons where he played 3 and 8 games. As for him being a project, he was always viewed that way iN Detroit, from everything I read from them and their fans.
How about you offer Oden and keep Aldridge? It'd be sort of a wild card trade for everyone involved, but I think that'd somewhat to be expected when you're dealing a guy like Bosh. Those are rarely talent for talent trades, and the Raptors will be in a strange position anyway. Might as well swing for the fences if you're them.
and people on here laugh when i simply say we need a sf in a trade. bosh getting traded here for la... pipe dream? no chance in hell? wasted thread? garbage to read. you choose from bold above...
No to Bosh. We have Aldridge that has been improving every year. His physic is getting better with each year as well. Aldridge is a gym rat and is doing an amazing job in the offseason to build up his core strength and power. Also, Aldridge is much younger than Bosh and has proven that he plays well with Roy. No to Bosh, let Miami or New York go after him.
To be fair, one would assume that LMA's TRB% would go up if he played on Toronto, and Bosh/Amir would not have anywhere near the TRB% if they played next to Joel and Oden... You also consider the fact that LMA tends to leak out on defense because there is a very good chance that Joel/Greg (before he went down) would take it. LMA is not a terrific rebounder, but he is far from the "chump" people make him to be.
And some may want to look at who Toronto has on their team. Of course Bosh is pimp. He's the #1 option on the team. I remembered Aldridge scoring 30 points in 3 quarters in a game. It's not like he can't score like Bosh, he just plays within the game plan of Nate. When Nate calls his number, he sticks with it. The only thing I would knock Aldridge for, is him not demanding the ball like Roy does. Showing some leadership qualities on the team. He reminds me of that guy that goes out and punches his timecard and does his thing. I want him to really work on his leadership skills. Maybe he doesn't have it?
Bosh is a better offensive player than LMA, if only for his face-up game from the dribble. On the other hand, LMA is a better defensive player than Bosh imho. Overall, this is a big trade over nothing from Portland's perspective. Sure, we have problems scoring the ball this season with all the injuries, but this is a short term problem, hopefully. I think the better defender and almost as good an offensive player, on a smaller salary is the better way to go for Portland. Not that Bosh is not great, he is - but fit, here, I am not sure he is better.
I agree. I would rather have a defender type player at PF, to Ying and Yang Aldridge. Also, we still have Outlaw too. I want that enforcer-type player. The one that really pisses other players off with jocking for position. Get a couple "flop fouls" from tossed elbows by the other team. We need that scrappy defender type. After all the injuries are done, we have all the offense we need, IMO. Outlaw and Fernandez alone are scoring machines. Then you factor Oden probably getting more touches next season and you got a log jam with scoring.
