Is it the same hypothesis you had after the Patriots were undefeated a couple of years ago? What about when the Tenessee Titans were 13 and 0 and dropped their last 3 games of the season? And what teams with good defense has New Orleans faced? They haven't faced a championship caliber defense. It's amazing how ordinary Brees can look if not given time to pass. Kind of like how Kyle Orton looked really good for the Broncos until he faced Pittsburgh. Then he was exposed.
