Trade Meyers for Baynes(C), and Jalen Brown(SG). Works capwise. Boston gets back Gordon Hayward & Kyrie, and with Rozier & Smart taking a step up, and draftpicks, Brown becomes expendable. Leonard fits perfect in Boston system (City), and Brad Stevens is David Copperfield, so Meyers will look like second coming of Dave Cowens. Blazers get needed shooting, and a backup center to Nurk, who gets re-signed.
I would start by calling every team starting with NY at #9 to see if they were interested in a salary dump trade in exchange for their pick. #9, #36, Joakim Noah for Aminu and Harkless (Maybe?) #10, Bayless, TLC using TPE (Highly Unlikely) #11, MKG using TPE (Doubt it) #12 or #13, Rivers if he opts in (or Wesley Johnson and Boban) using TPE (Maybe since they have two picks as it would get them closer to a max free agent offer?) #14, Faried (or Wilson Chandler if he opts in) using the TPE (Probably Not) #15, Jason Smith, Jodie Meeks using the TPE (Unlikely but I'd also consider offering Aminu instead of the TPE) After exhausting all those options lets say none of them worked out. I would try to work out a 4-way trade with the Bucks, Hawks, and 76ers (I know a 4-way trade is unlikely but this is more like several individual trades that make sense as one). 76ers get Jake Layman (Waived since Non-Guaranteed) Bucks get Aminu, #3o Hawks get Bayless, Swanigan, TLC, #26 Blazers get #17, #19, Dellavedova, Miles Plumlee (TPE), Richaun Holmes, Rights to Jonah Bolden Draft Khyri Thomas at 17, Dzanan Musa at 19, Chandler Hutchison at 24 Re-sign Nurk only (estimated $15 million per year) Dame/CJ/Harkless/Collins/Nurk Baldwin/Khyri/Hutch/Bolden/Holmes Dellavedova/Turner/Musa/Leonard/Plumlee Would be about $144 million for that roster. A little high but we could maybe try to attach a 2019 1st to Turner, Plumlee, Dellavedova, or Leonard at the deadline to significantly reduce the tax bill if needed since luxury tax isn't set until the end of the regular season. The roster would basically be split into 3 parts: Foundation-Dame, CJ, Nurk, Harkless Young Potential-Collins, Baldwin, Khyri, Musa, Hutch, Bolden, Holmes Deadweight Contracts (One year away from being expiring)-Turner, Plumlee, Leonard, Dellavedova I'd probably hang on to CJ for now, although if the Mavs offered something like #5 and Wes (or Powell/Barea) I'd be tempted to do it and take Micheal Porter Jr. I really don't think those kind of offers are going to be on the table though.
Is this a serious suggestion? If it is, it's the worst trade that's ever been seriously suggested in the history of this forum...
Yeah, Nards has way more value than Brown & Baynes. Celtics would have to include Smart & Tatum in any deal for Nards as well. I mean he's guaranteed to make 50% of swish3's if encouraged properly. Trade would look something like this. Celtics get - Nards Portland gets - Brown, Tatum, Smart & Baynes. Can work out the money after the trade is done. But this is the only way a guaranteed 50% three point shooter should be traded.
This post is so stupid. Smart is a restricted free agent so he wouldn't be included. They have the Kings pick next year, how about we substitute that for Smart.
You sure about that? CBA FAQ 20 & 92 don't indicate that to be the case. You have done documentation for this?
This is "You be the GM" so I didn't factor in what Olshey would do. Unfortunately you're right though.
No, I think you are right as long as we don't acquire any player being signed-and-traded. I obviously need to reread the new CBA as they didn't change much but apparently this one they did. Sorry, carry on.
Try and Trade our pick and Harmless & Pap, & Layman to move up some in draft. Get the best defending 2/3 you can. Meyers and AFA traded to Wiz for Kelly O and MarGor. This shores up the 5 in case we don't sign Nurkules and also moves Collins into the starting 4. Re-sign Shabazz and Davis. Davis can play 5/4 and would be that veteran we need. Keep Baldwin, he and Turner do offer some toughness in back court. Sign PatCon to one more year. Hire Gary Payton as special defensive assistant. Need more O fortitude amongst players and coaches.
It appears now that Olshey will try to use the 12 million dollar TPE. I do not see how he can do that AND sign Nurkic and Napier and Davis. I don't even want to attempt to calculate how much into luxury tax territory that will take us. So I think Both Davis and Napier will be gone without any return to the Blazers. It seems they should have been used in a trade at the deadline. At this point I think it will be the right decision to use the TPE as we should be able to get a player more valuable to the Blazers than Davis.
So third most valuable? Or still fourth most valuable? I think he is currently the fourth most valuable player to the blazers behind nurk. That would be a good upgrade because soon collins will be able to do everything davis does plus more.
The Blockbuster trade: Portland Outgoing: Dame goes to Boston Aminu goes to Dallas 2018 #24 pick goes to Dallas Portland Incoming: Barnes from Dallas 2018 #5 pick from Dallas Jaylen Brown 6’-7” PG from Boston 2019 #1 pick from Boston (Memphis) 2019 #1 pick from Boston (Sacramento) Dallas Outgoing: Barnes to Portland 2018 #5 pick to Portland Dallas Incoming: Kyrie Irving from Boston Aminu from Portland 2018 #24 from Portland Boston outgoing: Kyrie Irving to Dallas Jaylen Brown to Portland 2019 #1 pick (Memphis) to Portland 2019 #1 pick (Sacramento) to Portland Boston incoming: Dame Yeh, I think I got it all QUICK SUMMARY PORTLAND takes advantage of moving Dame at his peak and receives Jaylen Brown, Harrison Barnes, two likely top-10 picks in 2019 and this year’s (Dallas) #5. [Then re-sign Nurk, Davis and Napier] Aminu’s loss is Collins’ gain in minutes at the 4. ....and how fun to dream about this year’s #5 pick AND two lottery picks in 2019! In two years we drop Turner and Nards contracts and can bring in a free-agent to round off a new, young roster - not to mention, we’d have CJ to keep or trade at that time. Shoot, trade the Dallas #5 along with the 2019 Boston (Sac) pick to the Kings to move up to #2 and land Donocic! Dallas obtains Kyrie Irving and Aminu losing only Barnes and their 2018 #5 pick - yet the do get Portland’s 2018 #24. So sweet play by Mavs. Celtics - well, with Dame they become the powerhouse of the East for the next 3-5 years! True that they are giving up a nice package, but their roster would be solid!
If there was ever a draft to trade Dame or CJ or both for picks, this is it... some potential superstars in the top 5-6 picks
