That deal doesn't work on Cleveland's end. They're sending out $34.2M and getting back $41.2M. They need to send out an additional $2M. Send Cedi Osman and/or Ante Zizic to New York, as they need more. In that case, Cleveland still needs something. If this trade happened in July, we could send Swanigan to New York (that should definitely get them to agree), and Papagiannis somewhere to get salaries close to be able to do tjis: Acquire Lee without the TPE so that ee could use the TPE on Thomas, and add Jason Smith to that TPE and Jodie Meeks (if he opts in) with the Vonleh TPE. That makes it even more likely WAS does it. Send Cleveland our 2019 1st and maybe itd work. Washington would save apx. $30M and wouldn't really get worse. Cleveland adds a pick, and swaps Love and Clarkson for McCollum and Aminu. New York swaps out bad salary and adds a couple young prospects in Swanigan, as well as Zizic and/or Osman. MLE on a ball handing combo-guard Lillard / Baldwin / ? Lee / ? / Turner Porter / Hutchison / Thomas Love / Collins Nurkic / Davis /
and some in here said Leonard had little to no trade value and now he can be traded to two different teams. That's some pretty outstanding value, lol.
“I think this offseason we shift our focus to playoff-caliber guys,” Olshey said. “Guys that hit the right benchmarks or the body of work that can really perform come April knowing the rebuild got done quicker than we thought and it’s time to start thinking of playoff success over whether or not we can or can’t make the playoffs while retooling.”
get a coach. assign meyers to the d-league until we can trade him or buyout trade evan turner for anything probably sign nurk possibly trade CJ if we can get a legit PF or wing see if sabonis is keen on being a big man mentor coach for nurk put on a blazer legends appreciation night n get a ton of people like brian grant, sheed, uncle cliff etc back and have a good time drink more screen some new blazer dancers
Hypothetical blow up trade: The Blazers get the 1st and 4th picks in deals involving Dame (#1, Dudley, and Chandler) and CJ and #24 (#4, #32 and Chandler Parsons). Guaranteed Contracts: Turner, Harkless, Leonard, Parsons, Dudley, Chandler, Aminu, Collins, and Swanigan Non-Guaranteed Contracts: Layman, Baldwin, and PapaG Still could Re-sign: Nurk, Davis, PattyC, and Napier Your team sucks pretty bad but you have draft picks #1, #4, and #32. My question is what combination of players do you take at #1 and #4 to start your whole building process around? Because of the bigs being available at #4 that aren't that much worse than Ayton, I think I would take Doncic at #1. I wouldn't really want to build around Trae Young so Doncic is really the only guard that makes sense. Then I have a real tough decision at #4. I'd lean towards Mo Bamba even though I am still really high on Nurk. I know technically we could still re-sign Nurk even if we took Bamba but I might just take Bamba and let the free agents walk and be really, really bad again next year to tank for the next year. So my rebuild would be based around Doncic, Collins, and Bamba. The only other real thing I would consider is taking Michael Porter Jr at #4 and re-signing Nurk. Then my rebuild would be around Doncic, Porter, Collins, and Nurk. Who would you guys chose to build around?
2 undersized ISO ball players over 27 years old making 25+ mil each vs a 6’6” SG that is 21 years old and has scored 70 points in a game + Doncic or Ayton who could both be generational talents... not even close if you ask me... McLillard will never compete for a title together
If you go Doncic 1, there's a decent chance Ayton and Bamba go 2-3. In that scenario, is Porter the BPA, or is it Bagley? Collins and Nurk notwithstanding, I probably take Bagley at 4.
You guys are probably right but I just have this weird gut feeling that Bagley is going to be solid but not great in the NBA. Same with Jackson Jr and Wendell Carter. If I'm in this position with Bamba off the board I'm swinging for the fences with Porter Jr (assuming there are no red flags medically). Instead of BPA or need I'm looking for whoever has the most star potential. If I'm wrong, once again I probably am, at least I solidified being really bad next year so tanking would be easy.
What part is funny to you? You wouldn’t trade CJ for Booker? Or you wouldn’t trade Dame for number 1? I would LMAO at anyone that would turn down either of those deals... as much as I love Dame because of his loyalty to the city, and big numbers in regular season... he is shooting 40% fg and 34% 3pt in 6 years in the playoffs and will be 28 next season... at this point I’d rather roll the dice on a possible generational talent than pay Dame 30 mil per year... as far as CJ, I’ll take a 21 year old with way more size than pay a 27 year old that doesn’t like to pass 25 mil a year... just doesn’t understand what is so funny to you
Again, 2 draftpicks who may, or may not be anything special going forward. Dame and CJ are still developing. Booker is a fantastic young player, but I just don't like the fact that you've capped our guys potential already, when each has improved on something each year. They're only 27, not 35.
Why in the hell, would the Wiz, or Knicks do that. They get nothing. And I like Clarkson. I think he would be great in Portland. Underused in Cleveland.
Sorry to break the news to you, but Dame and CJ are what they are... there is no drastic improvement left... to me, the question comes down to garauteed mediocrity or potential but but garaunteed greatness. I would rather take a shot at greatness than knowing for sure there is no chance at title
