FWIW, You can't choose your owner or your coach or your players. But you can choose the team you want to follow. I've removed all my Bulls bookmarks from my browsers and I haven't been following the team any more so than any other team. I find I don't miss following the Bulls at all. After 40+ years of being a fan of the Bulls franchise, they have driven me away from caring in the least about its fortunes. I was downright thankful for the 6 championships and the Jordan/Pippen/Jackson era. Those guys are long gone and there's nothing remotely resembling that going to happen in Chicago until the team is sold to an owner who gives a shit. And we know that's not going to happen any time soon. Jerry Reinsdorf is just outright bad for basketball. You can't choose your owner. Oh wait, you can. I choose Paul Allen. I've adopted the Blazers as my team from now on. Class organization from top to bottom. I post this in case you wonder why I haven't been posting in the forum for a while.
I like the people who post here fine. I just don't have anything to say about the ongoing and decades long dysfunction of an organization. Tired of waiting for organization wins championships to care as much as we do (as I did).
I was where you are at the beginning of last season. It's not just dysfunction though that's certainly part of it. I don't know John Paxson, but an awful lot of his actions strike me as an outside observer as classless and I don't particularly want to root for his success. By the time preseason hit, I found myself getting back into the swing of things. It can be pretty darn fun cheering for laundry if you can ignore all the other stuff. Here's hoping you get your interest back before the season hits.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3167808 I didn't like Skiles, but look at the date on that article. Classy? http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2011/3/9/2038527/john-paxson-bulls-vinny-del-negro Skiles' successor. We know the smear campaign against Thibs that followed. I mentioned how they chased PJax out of town. Nah. Just not interested, even in the laundry.
I dont blame you for feeling that way. JR has not been good for baseball either. As my username says, although the Bulls are red and not blue, I will follow them. Always have, always will. I had an uncle that was a Cubs fan for years and years until he died at 92. Rest of us were Cardinal fans. I still am. runs in the family to pick teams and stay with them. Moms side of the family were and are Reds fans.
Me, too. Everyone should make his own decisions. I think that I will follow them for the better or for the worse.
Well Denny it's been nice reading your posts around here but to each their own. Enjoy your new fandom and feel free to linger around if you feel inspired to.
