There's a lot of disparity in this world. If you're on top, you seldom see disparity. Those who do see disparity are often called Progressives.
The sad part is that those who are economically on the bottom are manipulated by showing them how great it is that they are on top socially and, and this is the really damning part, economically. Actually, it's all pretty damning.

Men, meaning we all should be the best not just some of us. I thought that was obvious. Guess not.

No, I think the creators are really dumb though. Anytime somebody has tried to get political in an ad or commercial, it gets so many dislikes. Only thing it does is get people talking about it. How do you go from "gillette, the best a man can get" to "gillette, the best a man can be". what are you trying to say here? they are shitting on their demographic and obviously it doesn't work. The ad is just plain bad. Gillette out here changing the world though and men who are shitty for sure. Yeah totally

What's a lot? I think a lot is a lot of those that wind up in the news and not a lot statistically.

I would guess 60 percent at least. There are no statistics of it, people aren't going around asking that culture and religion "hey if you could throw a gay person off a roof would you?'

I don't have a number for you, I am saying based on my own research that the number is larger than you think but it's ignored because people here are scared of being called an islamophobe when it's not even that it's just the truth. Just like how many catholic priests in the past and present have molested kids and been protected by it.

Well, I've known a few Muslims and their families and they all assure me that such Muslims are a rarity. My guess is that it's far far less than you describe. I'm going to guess less than 10% at the outside.
I've seen one estimate that says there are 1.8 Billion Muslims in the world. Another estimate said about 200 Million Muslim women have undergone genital mutilation. That would be about 11% of the Muslims. I would also assume that the tradition is dying out and it is practiced in less than 11% of the victims, currently.

It worked wonderfully for Nike with the Kaepernick ads (just look at their recent financial results) - and we will have to wait and see how it works in this case. I suspect that it will work fine as well - because I believe the majority of people are good and would reward them because they now have an association with something that stands for something good.

You assert that men are snowflakes that will be offended by an ad that advocates people being decent. Time will tell.

Well unfortunately people are stupid and bought the Kaepernick shit and then started praising nike meanwhile the company donates to the republican party, so really they are just smart and fucked everybody. Gillette on the other hand is not nearly as big as nike and their demographic as men. Coming out with an ad telling men how to act is kinda ridiculous and it's not hard to tell. I get it though, the classic portland "progressive" forum saying this is such a great thing. Same old same old, whats new. This thinking is cult/religion levels at this point. Spot the connection here

"Anybody who doesn't believe in this ad must be a snowflake of a man and must be a toxic dudebro"
"if you don't believe in god, you are going to hell"

by the way, this is just one of the topics, we aren't even talking about the women who are severely oppressed in the middle east who get beat and can't show their face. Also the amount of people over there who believe in killing gay people or don't believe in gay marriage at all, etc. They still stone people to death over there for fuck sake and there is a lot of weird incest that takes place as well. It's fucked.

I honestly think you are wrong about this.

The Kaepernick stuff worked because it was praising the right of Americans to speak their mind and advocate for something good - it did not work because people are stupid. Likewise, I suspect that the Gillette ad will work because it advocates for something good - which is that people do right by other people. Both associate the company with something people usually believe in - which is the role of advertising.

    Time will tell.

    It's not close to 20%.
No, whatever the percentage, it's certainly not okay. Why would you ask such a question?
I think I wasn't clear enough. I'm saying don't peg all of them when a small minority of them adhere to a horrible cultural practice.
