Hell, there's more than one in here who would need to take a 40-minute Max ride just to get BACK to crazy, lol...
Clearly you don't "love all the pinwheel enthusiasm" (see bolded above) or you wouldn't repeatedly rag on posters for their fanatically optimistic comments. What I'm trying to figure out is why you keep pissing in everyone's cheerios?
So this team isn't making the playoffs. Oh, well. I'm looking forward to the season. And I find some fans' over optimism to be part of the fun.
I'm loving HCP's shtick! He's just trying to generate some fire and he's doing a damn fine job. He doesn't mean anything personal by it and he certainly generates some great comments, retorts and insights. Plus he's one of the more thick skinned folks here. I'm hoping he doesn't just up and disappear when the season starts. Every kitchen needs a pot stirrer......
HCP is not trying to be negative. He is simply trying to talk some sense into those few, who during the season, are going to annoy the shit out of us with their melt downs. On the other hand we should be enthusiastic about last night's game...because it was fun. Nothing wrong with getting excited when we have the chance. But on those nights that we suck, and there will be a lot of them........just fucking chill and not start talking about who needs to be cut immediately, or whose advanced stats are pathetic when they only played 3 minutes at the end of a blow out. Many of these guys need time to develop. Personally I think most of us have the right expectations going into this year, but I am sure there will still be a few crazies who will make it unbearable to come to the board after a bad loss. And to those few......try to be smarter. It is a long season.
Well, that's not going to work. The irrational are going to be irrational. And those who are overly optimistic now, are not necessarily the ones who are going to melt down later.
The Celtics look a lot like what we're trying to be. They come at you in waves. Brad Stephens is supposed to be a coaching genius, though.
That is a good point. They are not the same posters, and I don't think any of us were be overly optimistic. But none-the-less he was trying to say don't set your expectations too high. (Which again I don't think most of us are.)
Don't worry CliffDaddy. People have been trying to get him to leave for years. He can't disappear because he has to keep an eye on Mrs. HCP. Over the last several years she's proven herself to be very "friendly" with some of the board members. Or is that board member's member(s)?
This doesn't really make sense.. not from what I know of this board. The ones who will have a meltdown later are the ones who are still having meltdowns now. The people who are optimistic aren't going to be the ones saying, TRAD HIM TRADE HIM. The optimistic ones ARE the ones who see long term and know it will take time and wont be so quick to say trade him after a bad night or week. Again this... The end result is HCP likes to piss in the positivity pot... much like Tlong, MM and Marusol. Some people prefer to live in a world where the glass is half empty is all. Hard to believe HCP is employed by the Blazers, but can continually be so down and negative on all the new guys. I just don't get it...unless HCP is a glass half empty kinda guy. Either way, When the time comes, I will be watching to see if he mans up and admits his wrongs when we are 30+ wins with 20 games left. That's how you know a man is a man. When they can admit the wrongs.
True. I take pride in remaining level-headed when things aren't going the way I want them to. Many in here lose their minds during a losing streak, but I'm not one of them.
Cool--I'll have to pay some attention to them this year. It's about as close as I'll ever get to following a Euro-league team.
