if we get Deng can we trade him to the Clips for a big TPE? Clips need an SF, none left in FA, and after recent prices paid for SF's Deng's salary looks reasonable. Then we use the TPE and our other assets to trade for CP3, might need two separate trades but that should be no big deal. Would that not make it more attractive to Orelans?

In theory that works, but what happens if you trade Deng to the Clips for nothing and then the Hornets back out of the deal? (Nevermind the fact that the Clippers just drafted Aminu at 8)

obviously you don't do it unless Hornets are committed, or make it a 4-way from the start

If that could happen, then wouldn't Chicago do that without us to free up maximum cap space?

Chi also needs some players, they got no guards but Rose, we can send Pryz or Miller with some combo of Bayless - Rudy - Pendy etc

If they free max cap room and get Wade or Lebron, they can go out and get veteran's minimum or D-league guys to fill out their guard spots and not miss a beat. They don't need Bayless, Rudy or Pendergraph.

For the sake of argument, let's say that the Blazers did this deal. What then?

    Miller/(Farmar?)/Johnson
    Roy/(Mason?)/Williams
    Deng/Batum/Babbitt
    LMA/Dante
    Oden/Camby/Pendergraph

Doesn't seem bloody likely that Nic stays in a backup role and Deng sure as hell wouldn't back him up. It just doesn't add up.

Edit: and it's completely foolish to believe that some mega trade for an all-star point guard would follow this.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
It would prefigure Batum being traded, as part of a package for Chris Paul. Deng becomes the new 30-35 MPG starter.

Edit: Oh, didn't read your entire post before typing my response and pressing the submit button. Well, now I just feel foolish. But not "completely," so the joke's on you.

    Where my Chris Paul at?

I don't think we trade for Deng unless it's part of a three-way. Straight up it makes little sense for us.

I also think this is a rare situation where Chicago would help us get Paul if it helped them get two of LeBron/Bosh/Wade.

    Do you not agree Denny?

    PG Rose
    SG Wade
    SF LeBron
    PF Noah
    C Przybilla

I think Joel comes off the bench with Taj starting.

But you wouldn't shed a bitter tear over that lineup right? More like tears of joy?
