All else being equal; contract length and cost are the same, what order would you keep the Blazers free agents? After poll 1 finishes we can vote on option 2.
I voted Meyers because he'll be cheaper. I fear Crabbe is gonna get overpaid big time. The dude is an average bench piece. An 8th/9th man. Not someone who should be getting $10M+
The player that would be the easiest to replace would be Leonard. There are quit a few good PF FA options this summer. From there it gets much tougher. Not many decent SF or SG FA options. The next filter probably would be age, so Henderson (age 28) would go next. That leaves Crabbe (age 23) and Harkless (age 22). I like Harkless’s game, if he had a better 3 pt shot I would keep him first. But Crabbe also has game and is a much better 3 PT shooter. So Crabbe wins the coin flip, we keep him first.
This was tough for me between Crabbe and Hendo. Ultimately it came down to Gerald being the only true vet on our team that gets substantial minutes. All things being equal, I can't take into account any veteran FA we might pick up so I have to go with the guy that has been most consistent on this one. Good poll!
Go with Moe! ...mainly because I have these insane rookie patch autograph cards of his that would go up in value if he continues to improve on a up and coming Blazers team
Henderson is the most valuable player of the group so I picked him but I would keep all 4 guys if the price was right....my gut says Crabbe or Leonard will be elsewhere and we keep one of them. Harkless we keep but don't overpay for. Henderson should get a good contract with us.
None of the above. For a time I thought Crabbe was moving into the "bite the bullet and pay him" range. His recent regression has taken the wind out of those sails! Harkless and Leonard will probably be asking to be paid more than Aminu and Davis, even though they are worth half as much. Neither is worth over-paying to keep. That leaves Hendo. He is probably expecting a Wes Matthews type offer. Blazers should not be the team to give it to him.
Why would Harkless even ask to pay that much? He still has to prove it. Hendo will not be looking for Wes' money.
I could be for that, or I could also be for all of the above... if the price is right, which it won't be. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder & it only takes one team to overpay a guy. Each of the options seems to be a decent enough player but not a lot of real upside (unless Meyers gets a brain transplant). I went with Mo because he's the best defender of the bunch, but his shot has a long ways to go to be proficient. Dude needs to accept he's a wing not a post player and focus on his J. I think they could probably get him on the cheap and maybe have something down the road. STOMP
I voted Allen Crabbe. Hendo is probably the best player today but being 28 he's past his peak athletically. This debate is all about what we get the next 3 years. Crabbe was a great bench player and very effective as our third scorer the first half of the season. I have concerns about his poor defense. He's young and this is the first we've really got to see him in a significant role. Has a good attitude and work ethic. He could improve a lot next season just as CJ did last year. His position is also the scarcest in the league. There are tons of available big men so they have little value today, so odd when we look at how overpaid they all were a decade ago. Harkless can't shoot but is amazing athletically. Meyers has a number of offensive skills but just as many cringe worthy plays. All of these players have positives and negatives so that's why it's an interesting debate.
crabbe if it makes $ sense henderson to cover if it doesn't hark as he plays hard leonard, bet on himself, sucked 90% of the season, and now is out with a re-occuring shoulder injury - he'll still want huge bank, cause you know, in his mind he's starting quality.
Probably have to overpay for Crabbe but he's part of the core. Hes backslide continues though. Hendo will be harder but I think he'll take stability over a paycheck. Harkless might be the hardest to get but you never know. See how he end the season. Meyers..... who cares!
Harkless looks like a 13ish PPG scorer backing up the PF spot. Crabbe continues his slide. Earlier this season I put him on the same tier as Barton but it's not close now.
Harkless with another great game. Might make us totally re-evaluate his free agent standing and our future with the forward positions. We're outscoring opponents by 15.1 points per 100 possessions with him alongside the other starters. Will be interesting how the rest of the season and playoffs finish out. Way to go Mo!
Chill out on crabbe. It's the first time he's gotten big minutes, he's probably exhausted. I'd still take Harkless however just because of his ability to impact games without scoring.
Henderson is first to see if he wants to stay. Crabbe looks like he's hit that rookie wall usually hits around 60 games if I'm not mistaken. Crabbe in his first two seasons played a total of 66 games with 783 total minutes. This year in his first real NBA action... He's played 72 games so far and has logged 1881 minutes. He looks a step slower.
