I see us maybe trying to get a body upgrade from Cliff Alexander in the 2nd round if there is one available. AKA a C/PF in the 6'11"+ range who blocks shots and rebounds. If that guy is there Neil would likely find a way to get a pick.
He would be a great fit in this offense. How high up in the lottery do you need to go to get him? Would Toronto take Plumlee and a pick for 9? Is that high enough? Is that enough going to Toronto?
AND not a center LITERALLY no reason to argue with me about this. It is my opinion, and has zero statistical backing. Some have been fine. Brad Miller comes to mind, but the vast majority have all been garbage. Just like guys from Syracuse
would you put a time stamp on when this started and ended? As in, it didn't use to be the case in 19XX, but after 19XX, it was. (?) I tend to agree with you on it, not necessarily because they're WBA's, but because the 5 spot is a dying position and I don't think basketball is really a big sport for WBA's. Outside of the occasional 3 point specialist, there really isn't anything other then big clodding oafs. Although Chris Kaman is the wrench in my theory.
I'm in the unique position of almost not hoping for any picks. Yeah, it sucks that we had to give one up for Afflalo, but that's a sunk cost. If there's a $3M 26th pick or something available (PHI or BOS? Hello?), sure, but I don't want to give up anything of significance (and because we can't trade Meyers, Hendo or Crabbe we're a bit limited). I don't want to see Dame or CJ leave. I don't think we'd get commensurate value for what Aminu or Davis brings to the team. Trading Vonleh would be selling low. Plumlee might bring back some value, but what? I mean, would you guys trade Plumlee straight up for Sabonis right now? What else is left?
Same here. Draft time is always exciting because every young player has the potential to be a star when realistically you'd be lucky if they turn into a contributor within 3 years. I'm mum unless there is a nobrainer type deal. Maybe buy and stash a few euros.
I've been saying this for a while. A draft pick doesn't really help us this year at all unless we pay cash and then use it in some small trade and even then I doubt it would help us much, if at all.
My assumption has been that Olshey would be only interested in an athletic rim-protecting good-sized big and/or a Euro in late first or second round. He considers this a deep draft and I think he wants the Blazers to be a title contender this year or next; so he needs assets now, either to develop by next year (2017-2018) or to use in a big trade within this time period. My feeling is that he would only use future draft assets to get into this draft, no actual players.
We could get someone so much better than Sabonis at 9. There's a steep fall off after 7 though. If we get 9 is flip it and a future 2nd for 7 and take whoever's remaining out of Bender, Brown, Murray, Hield, or Dunn
The only site that has Sabonis at 9 is the completely wack nbadraft.net. They are much worse than Draft Express or ESPN in terms of ranking. I bet you could get to #16 with Boston by trading the Cavs pick and Noah V.
Change his name and nobody would want him this bad. If Deyonte Davis was Arvydas' son then we'd all be talking about him
I am a beaver homer, but gp2 is an awesome defender at a guard spot. Something we need and hes gonna be drafted in the 2nd which is cheap. Id want us to draft a duck if i felt theyd help the team. Was a big freddie jones and aaron brooks fan back in the day.
I'm not a Beav or a Duck fan - but I agree with JFizz. GP2 will be a great defender. Dame, CJ, and GP2 would make an awesome 3 guard rotation. GP2 has a skill set that neither of the other two have.
