Lots of NBA games were televised. I remember watching NBA games in 1959. I watched Wilt Chamberlain and I watched Bill Russell. Later, I enjoyed John Havlicek and Rick Barry as well as Elgin Baylor and Jerry West.
Actually lots of NBA weren't televised as back in the 60's they had the Sunday morning game of the week televised and that was it and usually it was Philly and Boston with some lakers mixed in.
I saw more than those two. Don't you recall watching Lew Alcindor when he played for the Minneapolis Lakers? I also remember watching Jerry West and Oscar Robertson. There were more than that but I just can't recall them right now. Edit: Mel Counts just popped into my memory.
This week's predictions: LSU Ohio State Clemson Georgia Alabama Oregon Utah Penn State Oklahoma Florida
I was being somewhat sarcastic, but you have to admit that they had a lot of Boston and Philly back in the early days with the big story of Wilt vs Russell and they were often televised Sunday mornings west coast time. FYI, Jabbar never played for the Minneapolis Lakers as he was drafted and played for Milwaukee Bucks and then played for the LA Lakers.
Yeah, now I recall Jabbar's original team. That was the team the Big O was on if my memory serves me. Oh, and I do recall that all the Wilt and Russell matchups were highly touted and televised. To show you how far I go back, I recall going to the home of some friend of my father's who owned one of the first TVs. It had a very small and round picture tube. All I can remember is that we watched the boxing fights and that the commercials were dominated by Hamms (the beer refreshing) and Gillette (look sharp, feel sharp). Oh and then there was Pall Malls as well as Call for Philip Morris.
I think the top 3 are locks for the rest of the season. Georgia is likely going to have another L (probably LSU), Bama without Tua could easily lose to Auburn. Oregon/Utah likely get the 4th spot but Oklahoma could sneak in too (depending on how the B12CG goes).
^^^Ohio State still has to play Penn State. Even if Bama gets past Auburn they'd likely still have to play and beat LSU again in the SEC championship game. Clemson has had an easier schedule all year and will likely play OSU in the first round, so it will probably be LSU vs Clemson again in the title game or maybe LSU/OSU.
Please don't say OSU in this neck of the woods. Please say Ohio State. I once went to an Atlanta Braves game back in about 1966 to watch the great Sandy Koufax pitch. As my dad and I got up to the ticket window the lady spotted my college T-shirt so she said "Oh, I see you're from Ohio State" I countered with no the OSU doesn't stand for Ohio State" she then said "oh, I see, Oklahoma State" I said "no", she then said "well, then who?" She couldn't figure out that there are three states whose name begins with the letter 'O'.
Hey, that's slander !...and you will be hearing from my lawyer. (no, not the one who's in charge of the Ukraine who's too busy right now trying to cover his ass...I mean my other lawyer)
Oooops, that was a typo/brain fart...I'm from Georgia so I know what all has to happen for them to win it all. My bad....not sure what I was thinking as I was typing. But yeah, I agree that without Tua, Bama has almost no chance.
