It's very tough leaving KG out of the top 5, especially after his MVP type season. He lead the TWolves to a top 4 seed in the West and also lead the league in double doubles, and triple doubles. Iverson is a great player, but he is in the East and if the Phillies played out West they would be fighting for an 8th seed. KG is more efficient on offense and is the better defender.

Allen Iverson has a far worse supporting cast? Since when is KG playing with the Kings role players, or a Kobe Bryant... I might be bias, but everyone who knows a think botu basketball has KG in their top 4 or 5, maybe you should look at all the other posts, and see that I am not the only one that thinks that... Philly plays solid ball? KG on your team... doesnt matter the supporting cast, doesnt matter east or west, youre in the playoffs... PERIOD.
Maybe we can be different from all these other boards and kill some of this "who is better than who" crap, because it gets old. I know it is the off season, but I am sure you guys can be a little more creative. KG is top 5, no questions.

He has no flash, he just gets the job done. Boring is good when you want to win championships. 2. Kobe Bryant- "He is one of the best because he works harder than the rest." That saying reminds me of a basketball legend when it comes to work ethic. 3. KG- He is 7 feet tall and can play all 5 positions. 4. Jason Kidd - The best PG in the game today. He is a team player and is one person along with Duncan who people should watch if they want to get better at basketball. Fundamentally sound. 5. TMAC- He is like Kobe in terms of athleticism however he doesnt have the experience and mid range game that Kobe has. People can argue all day long about these two however I wont. 6. SHAQ- He is the most dominating player in the game when healthy. I said dominating not the best. 7. Dirk- This guy can play 4 positions and can shoot your lights out from anywhere on the court. You combine those two things and you have one hard person to guard. 8. Paul Pierce- I think he might be one of the best clutch players in the game right now. A pure shooter in my books. Unbelievable range. 9. AI- He is small however this guy is fast and has some spunk. He is not afraid to get in the lane with the big boys. If he had a little more height he would be higher on my list. 10. Chris Webber - When he is healthy he is one dominating player however he needs to stay healthy for his team to get anywhere.

Its nearly impossible for me to pick the top 5 in exact order. Simple fact is that they are all great players. Any of them could be debated @ #1. Top 5 Tim Duncan KG Tmac Kobe Shaq 6-10 J Kidd Dirk AI J Oneal Paul Pierce Close seconds- Steve Francis, Ben Wallace, C Webb

Kidd: 18.7ppg, 2.2spg, 8.9apg, 6.3rpg...Great all-round player or Shaq: 27.5 ppg, 2.4bpg, 3.1apg, 11.10rpg...Most dominant I would take Shaq. Payton almost has as good of stats as Kidd and also Jason plays in the east. Second issue, KG plays all 5 positions? Anybody can play all 5 positions, yet it is how well you play them..but KG cannot play point guard.

Alot of you guys act as if Stats are everything, J. Kidd is one of the best point guards b/c of the impact he has on his team. The leadership, the way he runs the floor, you trying to tell me Payton is better than J. Kidd, no way. And J.Kidd did his thing when he played for the Mavs and Phoenix, by the way both of those teams are in the WEST.

Quoting chickensoup:

you trying to tell me Payton is better than J. Kidd, no way.
I never said Payton was better than Kidd. Reread my comments. Sure, Kidd has led his team to the finals 2 straight years, and who has he played against? The Pistons? The Celtics? Pacers? All teams that the Spurs, Lakers, Wolves, Kings, Mavs would beat and maybe sweep, which the Lakers did back in 2002. Shaq can also pass well out of the post, so he has alot of the skills Kidd has and is a much bigger defensive anchor. He is raising his free-throw % and is the most dominant. Would you build your franchise around Shaq or J.Kidd??! Kidd meanwhile, still has no "j" and put him on the Suns where they used to be..would they make it to the Finals? Nope.
Not to mention Shaq is double-teamed every game while you can stick 1 defender on Kidd and he still might have a bad performance..
NBA top 10: 1. KG 2. T-mac 3. Tim Duncan 4. Kobe 5. AI 6. SHAQ 7. JKidd 8. Webber 9. Pierce 10. J.Oneal or E.Brand Yeah, tim duncan's got 2 straight mvp's but Kevin Garnett has made so much more of an impact, no question, if KG dont get 03-04 MVP, the NBA's lost it... 4 sho....

I don't see how you can have any more impact than winning a championship.
