And I actually agree with Heatfan on Kobe's D.He didn't D up to his potential this year. He floated around too much on D and his man cut to the basket to score on a number of occassions. Still good D, but not 1st team D. He got that out of reputation. As for a replacement, I'm too tired to think too.

It's smart to flop. I used to hate floppers but when you have them on your team you love them so much.

Those guys play defense all the time. Kobe just plays defense when he wants to.</div>It's a publicity contest? come on, stop just pulling stuff out of your ass. Kobe got those bc he deserved them. When he played with Shaq, he was one of the best perimeter defenders in the league. He didn't have to worry about scoring as much.
Even asked Phil Jackson. Kobe did not play consistent defene. Best defender of the era? That's f*cking bullsh**.
Kobe was a great defender every night a few years back. Now he is inconsistent bc he has to worry about scoring so much. I never said anything about him being the best of the era, i disagree with that guy, but you can't say all-defensive team is a popularity contest. That's just ridiculous.
Has Kobe not been one of the top perimeter defenders in this era? Doesn't exactly mean the best just one of the best, which is true. Everyone knows Kobe can lock down ANYONE when he needs to and he has shown he can before in the playoffs.

I was referring to Heatfan who called Kobe the best defender of his era. Thats bullsh**. I can name 5 or 6 better defenders then him off the top of my head.Yes, I stand by what I said. He is inconsistent defensively, and sometimes puts no effort into playing D. Thats what Phil Jackson even said. Phil said that Kobe's defense has declined every year since he started coaching him. That happens though. Usually when you turn into an offensive superstar you cant put the full effort into D all the time.

Go ahead and name 5-6 better defenders at the GUARD position better then Kobe. When he was in the three-peat his defense was spectacular and even now where his defense isn't as solid he can still lock down anyone at any given time. Most of the board isn't agreeing with me for no reason, only someone who is a Kobe hater will say he isn't a top perimeter defender.

Um... Kobe would put in 210% if he was guarding MJ or any notable all star. That would be the greatest match up ever.edit: Kobe usually plays his best d against superstarts anyone remember what he did to tmac? or what he did to redd? or what he did to carter?
