I'm certain a thread like this has been created at some point over the illustrious history of this community, but with all the Collins/Swanigan talk I'm curious what your biggest scouting fail ever is. As in, a dude you desperately wanted the Blazers to draft and they turned out to be a bust. Mine was Montross. I almost puked typing that.
Wasn't for the Blazers to draft, I grew up in Chicago, but was wanting the Bulls to grab Deon Thomas, and then later on, Priest Lauderdale. Not huge fails, but remember really liking them both. Lauderdale sucked badly, and Thomas went to Israel to play, never played in NBA. I'm sure I have plenty lottery type selections as well.
Draft has never really been my thing simply because college ball is so annoying to watch. I however won't hesitate to admit I wanted Barnes over Lillard.
Gerald Green. When the Blazers traded down and took Martell Webster, I thought Green had more upside.
I have never really been a draft guy, so I haven't really made a lot of prognostications. I'd have to think about someone that I really wanted to draft beforehand. I have definitely bought into the coolaid though. I thought Webster was going to be better than he was. Qyntel Woods for sure.
I was definitely on the Oden train, but then again, a lot of people were. Non-Blazer related, but after comparing Oladipo's college stats to a certain Tarheel, I was projecting him to become the next Jordan. I believed the Telfair hype.
I saw Bayless in Summer League and thought he and Roy would be the future of the NBA elite backcourt combos.
