The 38 year old Texan by way of Nassau, Bahamas, has decided to call it a career following his loss to Akbarh Arreola at UFC Fight Night: Edgar vs. Swanson. The 38-year old finishes with a career record of 42-22, spanning back to 1997. Edwards made his UFC debut at UFC 33: Victory in Vegas, where he faced Matt Serra (at welterweight) and lost by decision. Edwards would bounce back and forth from the UFC to smaller promotions until 2010 when he signed a multi-fight contract with the UFC, fighting 11 times in the last five years. Edwards' career highlight occurred at UFC 49: Unfinished Business, when he landed a jumping head-kick on a retreating Josh Thomson. At the time Mike Goldberg announced that the head-kick knockout was superior to the former best ever (Petey Williams kicking an exhausted Mark Coleman in the mouth). Edwards would have at least two more spectacular knockout wins in his career- one against Edson Berto at EliteXC: Street Certified, a flying knee that was seen by millions on free TV, and another against Jeremy Stephens at UFC on FOX 5: Henderson vs. Diaz, albeit on the FX preliminary card.
