If he was trying to be funny, it worked.
If he was trying to be serious, it didn't.

You need a foundation of truth to joke on someone/something; or else it's just not funny

I'm guessing we will see a lot more of Collins, Myle, Hark and Caleb the rest of the season. NO knows we can't win it all and will develop them at all cost to either make them productive team members (Collins) or hope he raises their value enough to move in the off season. (Myle, Hark, Caleb) IMO.

Disagree, NO may want TS to play them but I don’t see MyLe or Caleb getting “extra” time unless they earn it.

Hark is getting more time now and Zach has already been getting time.

    After the brea
He's got his hands full learning to defend Howard and Zbo type centers for the first time game to game...he's in school..they'll trick him into rookie mistakes until he knows their game well enough...he does really well for a teenaged center

I wrote that post when there was an uptick in the stats. But now he's at 6.9.

I don't know. We had a LOT of patience with bigs like Meyers and Vonleh, and I kind of see this happening again. I remember watching Aldridge, Z-Bo and Oden play as rooks, and it was, "HELL yeah, this guy needs more MINUTES!" Collins feels a lot more like Meyers and Vonleh, where you say to yourself , "Maybe there's something there if we just give him some time."

I had dreams at the beginning of the season of a Porzingis/Ak47 hybrid. Now I feel like he's more in the Channing Frye/Ed Davis career path--specialist bigs who will hang around in the league for a long time but aren't the kind of guys you build around.

I understand and agree with your position.

Collins demonstrates good BBIQ and some good fundamentals but doesn’t give me that “We’ve got a Stud!” feel such as I felt at times with those you mentioned.

At this point I feel like yes, we’ve landed a solid role player for which I am grateful (not a bust).

However, I also don’t feel that solid role players should be deigned “untouchable” or untradeable.

I had higher hopes for Zach but will take what he seems to offer and hope that he grows beyond my current expectations.

In short, not a homer, but rather more a singles/doubles kind of guy.

    Gramps...

Sadly, because Stotts, we get to see Zach's post footwork about once a week now if we are lucky. More and more he is just out at the 3-pt line like Meyers before him who started on the block and after Stotts, became strictly a perimeter player. Look at Nurk....dunked everything when he got here and after some time after Stotts, is much more finesse and we all comment when he actually gets a dunk.

It's the mentality of the head coach that purveys the looker room and you see it over and over again with any player that has a hint of an outside game.

3-26? Holy bricklayer Batman! Layman was never that bad, was he?

Don't worry about Zach. He's got a nice shot that will start dropping sooner than later. He's a rook with a high bbiq, trying to fit into the big league. How many shots did he have that were in and out or on the edge of the rim? His time is coming. Patience is a bad word around here, I get it. I'm guessing that he's not lazy and doesn't sit around looking at himself flex in the mirror. I just wish he was in the key working on his post moves instead of jacking up 3's, that's on coach. Maybe he is and they want him to develop a little before he bangs with the bigs and ends up injured. Idk.

The look he has on his face tells me he's getting it. When he first got here he would put his head down and mope around when he made a mistake. We don't see that anymore. Now no matter what he does good or bad he has that same determined look.

    Be patient. He's just learning.

I like Collins' defensive instincts, and he seems coordinated enough to walk and chew bubblegum at the same time, and that's also good, but I see very little nose for the ball when it comes to rebounding, and he does not look like a natural on offense. There's nothing particularly wrong with him mechanically per se, it's just a certain lack of aggressiveness. So maybe he takes a leap next year or the year after, but I would be shocked if ever matures into bonafide star.
