What's the harm in finding out? The outcome seems pretty inevitable when you try matching the other team's strength...when they're elite at it.

And if it doesn’t work we’d be talking about Stotts and his brittle rotations that don’t adjust size for size.

In other words, we'd be no worse off.

The chance to succeed should always trump the fear of failure.

Id rather have PJ Tucker 3s than wide open Harden layups...

@Mediocre Man If he was black, what do you think of his play?

If they beat us off role players hitting open 3s, that's different than Harden getting 6 open layups in a row.

He should be getting minutes, he showed last night that he can play. He will get relegated to deep, deep bench when Nurkic is back which is terrible because you would like to have one or two young players with significant upside to get excited about when the rest of the team is clearly not good enough to compete as a unit.

He could IMO play next to Nurkic as well.

That's because Stotts designs the plays to make the guards do the scoring. I was surprised tonight at how well our bigs can score, when allowed to.

Underwhelming for the 10th pick in a loaded draft

    Already better than Meyers

Could be good at some point as a PF

Lol but seriously long term Collins fits next to Nurkic. He’s athletic enough to guard most fours and the strength is just a matter of time. He can space the court offensively better than say Vonleh. Not saying I want to get rid of Vonleh, just that Collins has more upside. He’ll be a versatile big capable of playing either spot.

Id argue that Collins’ development is the most important thing about this franchise in the immediate future. If he develops properly, Portland has their missing piece.

This is all truth. I think he will be capable of guarding 4's sooner rather than later. He has better instincts and length than Aldridge had at the same age, and they compare favorably on the bulk/weight aspect. I'm not down on Collins.

Ps. I was reading and posting in the clutch fans thread during the game (I see you fuckers all the time; I thought it would be fun to chat with the enemy). At one point, a poster, who is one of my favorites there, tagged me in a post and asked, "Who are all these white devils in there right now?". Some of the guys there were impressed with Pat and Collins.

His defense is so good... He hasn't gotten the chance. He could be a ome-dimensional guard playing for a bad team scoring an inefficient 15ppg, but I don't think that's "impressive".

    Nor do I

He's good at the rim more than he's good on defense. Shows a lot of promise though.

Yeah like “Which Scrub Goes Off On Us” wasn’t a thing last year or two years ago. There was that D-League guy who got a two year contract because of his game against us... is that better or worse when they’re both losses?

Yes but that scrub didn't have anyone else on the team 1/2 of Harden's caliber. He just did it on his own with a whole bunch of other scrubs around him.

I used to get in fights a lot when I was in my early 20s. I never tried to match speed or throwing punches with little guys. Throwing them through rows of chairs was more my style.

Play to your strengths isn't a cliche that I made up but it feels like we're the only ones who know it.

I said Collins should be playing. Someone said “there isn’t anyone he should be playing over/instead of”, and you liked that post. So what changed in 15 hours?
