When my son was in college at OSU I went shopping at a TJ Max or something like that in Corvalis and there was a whole row of Greg Oden jerseys...all in his original size ...it looked liike a dress rack as they were about 5 ft long...I probably should have bought one just for novelty of it
In this series we need as many big bodies as we can and your take on Collins is a foolish one as well.
I think that you're conflating a stress reaction with a stress fracture. A bit of google sleuthing reveals: "In a stress reaction, the bone is beginning to weaken and to wear down, but has not yet cracked. If a stress reaction is caught early on, a runner can potentially avoid a stress fracture by giving the injured foot a break and allowing it to heal." The info released by the team calls it a stress reaction. Still, not good news since the typical time listed for recovery is the 6-8 weeks you mentioned. I'm going to venture a guess that it depends on the severity and individual body differences.
You couldn't be more wrong. This is obviously a bad thing for a team with as small of a roster we have. Wenyen proved two things, he can play and he can foul faster than Zach. If Zach were back then we would still play both Hassan (obviously) and Wenyen... we actually would have had some depth in the front court.
I totally agree with you. That said, the Blazers are playing with house money from here on out as far as this season's playoffs go. Nobody gave them much of a chance to make the playoffs, let alone be up 1-0 on the Lakers to start the series. The most important thing for the team is to remember that next season is only a few months away. They shouldn't make the mistake of rushing him back.
On the one hand, I agree with you. We're exceeding expectations. On the other hand..... Dame is 30. He's playing his best ball. The house money has run out. Dame's prime is officially at the peak.
Oh, I agree that the clock is ticking, but I just don't think that the Blazers have enough defense at the wing spots to have any realistic chance at getting past the Clippers or Bucks. I want Olshey to do his job and fix the roster between now and December so that we can hit it hard next season.
Steve Nash had 8 All-Star appearances. 6 of those appearances came in his "Age-30" season or later. Dame's has 5 AS appearances as of his "Age-29 season". I refuse to believe that Dame is peaking. If nothing else, Dame can ball from deep, he's incredibly intelligent. He will find ways to extend his peak longer than most.
