Source: ESPN.com This would clearly be a move to shed cap space. It's interesting to see D'Antoni swapping pieces with his former assistant coach Iavoroni (now the Grizzlies headcoach) considering Darko struggled in the same system. I think Jaric might be the only player to benefit from this trade. D'Antoni's offensive style was made for Jaric and Marko's ability to play multiple positions and shoot from the outside could earn him a lot of PT in New York next year.
He can score, and the egos of coaches and/or GMs get in the way of common sense. I do hope this trade goes through though, because the NY media is going to have a field day with Darko Milic. I give him a month in NY before he has a complete mental breakdown. There would be enough photos and stories to run a blog called Marko&Darko in NY. Marko Jaric is a real life man-whore and Darko Milic loves the clubbing scene.
I'm not a big advocate of Jaric and his contract, but he'll be much easier to move before 2010 than Randolph. I'd welcome Darko simply because he expires before 2010 and will be our lone shot blocker. He also does get fiery at times:
I'll go test the waters right now, since there's Z-Bo to Memphis thread on the front burner in that forum.
