You can't do a good job if you don't have any evidence or reliable witnesses. As you stated, it was his words against nobody's. Nobody isn't enough to convict or even arrest Zimmerman. Only reason he was arrested and this went to trial was because of black outrage based on nothing else other than a victim mentality so prevalent in the african american culture.

Zimmerman's own stated actions are enough to arrest him, but apparently not convict. If you think the only reason Zimmerman was even arrested was because of "black outrage", then you don't know dick about the legal system.
And according the person Martin was talking to on the phone Zimmerman came up to Martin and Martin said "Get off me". Either way, obviously Zimmerman's account holds the most weight, which no doubt is probably biased in his favor. That's just the way it is. Doesn't mean I have to feel good about it, though.
The police found no reason to arrest him afterward. Only after Bigmouth Barack commented on it did this become a national story, and the state of FL then had a special prosecutor look into the case again. LIVs are hilarious.
