Curious who posters prefer as the 6th, left side, Dman. Tough for Moore to lose his job because of an injury, but Diaz has fit in nicely. I'm all for continuing to roll with Diaz even if / when Moore is ready.

John Moore had been playing some of his best hockey of the season in the stretch before he got hurt. Unfortunate, but he doesnt bring the offensive dimension that Diaz does. We need a guy at the point who will let it rip. Diaz fills a need.

What I like about Diaz is the kid shoots. He has no shame about that. He looks to shoot almost every time he gets the puck, and I like that.

The playoffs is about hitting and dirty goals. Small defenseman like Diaz don't cut it.

Diaz' shooting will allow for more dirty goals near the crease.

Moore has more talent that was shown after last seasons trade and the playoffs...will wait and see with Diaz

Diaz knows what he's doing with the puck and makes pinpoint outlet passes, plus he gets the middle of the ice in the offensive end to distribute/shoot. Great pickup for nothing basically. They should re-sign him asap.

Torey Krug is significantly smaller than Diaz and he absolutely killed us in the playoffs by just throwing pucks at the net.

who is this john moore i keep hearing about?...lol

anyway, diaz every day of week and twice on sunday.. we have too many players like moore, i like diaz cause the guy doesn't give a shite, he shoots and shoots and shoots again. he gets a little dirty too, looks like a great team player

the guy who had 6 points in 13 games after coming over last season in a trade with Columbus.
We tend to throw away guys quickly around here

Moore is still maturing, he seemed a little timid this year, but I think he'll be fine. Diaz has experience and is geared for offense which they are missing overall on D. This is one of the better in season moves GS has made.

Moore was pretty bad the first half of the season. He definitely improved when MDZ was finally shipped out and he could go back to his natural left side. Diaz might not be the better overall player, but he adds a dimension this team lacks. He's already won PP time after 2 or 3 games. I stick with Diaz.

weren't we all bitching and moaning that Torts didn't have Moore on the pp at the end of the year and in the playoffs?

I'm not sure what your argument is here. Yes he was having a good end of the season last year and Torts was not using him on the PP consistently. It was on-off, on-off, and constant juggling, just like the rest of the lines with Torts. But Moore did not improve much this year, in fact I'd say he regressed for a lot of the year. Diaz has shown promise and a knack for shooting on the PP. Like I said, Moore might be the more complete player and has improved since going back to the left, but Diaz adds some shooting ability from the point that we havent had here in awhile. That's why I go with him.

I like to go with the hot hand which is what diaz is for the moment. if he falters you can always go back to j.moore

J. Moore needs to be more physical, not only does Diaz shoot a lot but he's accurate. I'd go with Diaz at this time and look to resign both let the greedy Swede Stralman walk.

I like Moore a lot, and truly believe he is part of the future here as a solid 3rd pair dman, but right now Diaz has been better. He should be in until he falters if he ever does.

As for you Al, man you are crazy with Torts. No matter what you defend that guy. Now you will say you are not defending him, but almost every post you make has some undertone of Torts defense, it is crazy IMO.

The guys time was up here. We are better for it as we aim to get home ice in round 1. His team now is going to miss the playoffs. He was suspended for many games for his over the top/unprofessional reaction to the Flames incident. And there is a very reasonable chance he could be one and done with the Canucks. There is a reason for that Al.

Let it go already Al Torts...:).

Dude you read into things way to much. Just like the coaching change we immediately want to throw people away. I mean really was a thread about BENCHING ST LOUIS for Christ sakes.
Have you seen me start threads about the system and the point totals of callahan since he left the rangers? Everyone wanted a"better offensive minded coach" our scoring is down our goals against is up. Already talks about AV being an idiot by having Carrillo play on the first line ( a game dominated by the rangers). So quick to judge.

I am with you on the negative/trade everyone stuff, it is way over the top. I just want to get you away from Torts...LOL.

I still stand by my suggestion to scratch St Louis for one game. It would not hurt the team in any way. Let him sit for one and then put him back out there.

You really gotta let it go, Al. We're about to go into the playoffs and you're still bringing up Torts? time to let it go, buddy.

lets bench a guy of 14 seasons because he hasn't scored...has he been that horrific that you would not play him...realistic. yeah this guy really needs to sit in the stands and see what is going on the ice.
want to lose a room real fast..put the guy who has scored more goals than any ranger in the stands. yeah...and you guys think im over the top with torts.

as far as you 31...give me a break. again...look at cally stats since leaving should I be going off on how he is doing so much better and St Louis has done nothing?...our scoring IS DOWN from last year with a better roster of players (am I making this up...no im not) i'm not saying to get rid of AV. just pointing out that what we had in the past wasn't as bad as people make it seem. the answer last year from a lot of posters was to simply change the coach with a better offensive scheme...well we did that...and...what....what is the excuse now....

two dmen have considerly been worse than last year, Moore and DZ in this system. I will give the benefit of the doubt that AV needs time to get his players comfortable in his system.

We have had Staal all season this year, and goals against has gone up. expected that since we are more offensive minded thinking, yet our goals scored are below last years rate...what is the answer there?

The thing that shot Torts was his abysmal power play, and that is on the coaching staff it they never worked on it. shame on him.
Right now that is the only thing that has improved, which makes the overall scoring average going down a bigger mystery.

Wait...I am wrong..after the 5 goals in Edmonton, the average is now .01 better than last year...

see ill admit when im wrong..a whole .01 better with a better power play...wow...im impressed

No, you shouldn't be going off on how Cally is doing in TB b/c you're smart enough, or should be, to realize the reason Cally was traded had nothing to do with his on-ice performance, AV, the system, or even Torts, and it was all b/c of the contract situation with him. It's completely irrelevant to any discussion about one coach vs. the other.

What excuse(s) are you talking about???? What we had in the past is not as good as what we have now. This year we have the highest winning % in years, outside of that season when we finished as a #1 seed, and will make it into the POs without sweating it out like most years. Change was needed and somehow you're still the only one who fails to see this.

How's your buddy doing in Vancouver? Basically the same team that last year finished 1st is sitting 5pts out of the wild card. Shows how overrated he was and is. Earlier in the season when we were struggling you used to love to bring up Vancouver's record. Funny how that's stopped.

Again, time to let it go. Torts is gone for good (thankfully) and has his hands full in Canada trying not to get fired after 1 season. His replacement has been a nice change and the team is doing well.

this team is as good as its going to be! could care less who is scoring, could care less who is playing right now, the players out there are giving this team the best chance of winning. AV is doing a very good job!

we will always have something to post about, thats what makes the board interesting!

go rangers

I hate to keep this Torts thing going but look what Brooks wrote about him today. This is exactly what people had posted about him on here even while he was with the Rangers.

"Tortorella’s narrow vision has done him and his team in this year. He has become the worst kind of zealot behind the bench, believing his way is the only way to win games regardless of his playing personnel, even if that means pounding square pegs into round holes. He is a zealot, a true believer that grinding, blocking shots and packing the defensive end is the one and only route to success. Except now it appears as if that’s leading him to a dead end."

ill let it go once people stop talking about the past. "we have the highest winning % in years, outside the season when we finished as the #1 seed"umm...ok. let's just forget about that season shall we. wow. you know the season that was the last full season the team had..you know the one that got within inches of the cup finals..yeah lets just discount that season.

kinda hard to have a decent season when you trade both of your goalies don't ya think. I don't give a shit what vancover does..this team is all I care about. lets get into the playoffs and do some winning why don't we

I read that and figured someone would bring it up. I don't give a shit about Vancover or what is happening over there. This team and that coach was on the verge of winning a cup the last time the NHL had a full season. Had he had a full training camp and season with Nash and Gabby and ahealthy Staal who knows what would of happened.

getting back on topic...this board so wanted to give Moore more and more PP time thinking he was the second coming at the end of last season, now we should put him in the press box for a guy who was traded twice in the same season.

Al, let it go man. Really. He's gone. You can write him letters to Vancouver if you want, but you better do it soon since that may not be his address too much longer.

AV is doing great here. Torts had his magical season and we couldn't get it done and his last year here was not a pretty one. His time was up and now we're seeing the benefits. This team was going nowhere with Torts here and needed a new voice and style. Not sure why it's so hard for you to understand this.
