Wow, I put this in the Around the NBA thread. Didn't think this professional Gatorade Guard deserved his own thread.

He's signed to the the team. However slight it is, he has a chance to make the squad. It's Blazer news. You think this DOESN'T deserve it's own thread but Lavar Ball's reality circus does?

Learn the forum then post.

Now even though you make a good point and kinda put me in my place, remember who you are speaking to. I can accept the new sensitive rooks treating me the way they do because they don't quite have a handle on the hierarchy around here, but YOU? #StayInYoLaneFAMS

Hmm...

Another former Kentucky Wildcat combo guard who can't shoot. I'm sensing a pattern here. At least this one has a reputation for actually playing defense.

I don't remember anything about this kids game. Was he brought in to battle Bazz for playing time or is this just a tough solid guard brought in to be a practice body for Dame and CJ to battle with in camp?

As it stands now we have 14 roster spots accounted for. Anyone signed has a chance to make the roster so a separate thread is ok.

As for briscoe I don't remember watching him in college but I do know he was a top prospect out of HS

Lack of a reliable outside shot limited him to role player status at Kentucky where he backed up Jamal Murray and Tyler Ulis as a freshman and the De'Aaron Fox and Malik Monk as a sophomore. Pretty hard to carve out a starting role when you can't shoot and have three future lottery picks ahead of you.

Still, he was a decent bench player/third guard on those Kentucky teams. Like Archie Goodwin, his offensive game depends on getting to the rim.

He's only 6'3", but with a 6'9" wing span was a capable defender at the college level.

Here is a story saying Calipari said he made right decision to leave school; possible he said it because he wanted him out of there?

Some stuff: "Briscoe measured just under 6-foot-3 in sneakers and weighed in at an eyebrow-raising 222.4 pounds with 11 percent body fat, highest among guards at the combine. He had the fourth-fastest shuttle run and eighth-fastest lane agility time, but one of the slowest sprints and a middle-of-the-pack vertical leap."

'Briscoe, the only Kentucky player participating in 5-on-5 scrimmages at the combine, had a nice first game: 15 points (on 6-of-10 shooting), 7 assists, 5 rebounds — but 5 turnovers. Calipari expected him to perform well here, considering a bit of information not previously known about Briscoe.

“He wasn’t healthy all year,” Calipari said. “His feet were bothering him, so I’m anxious to see him go up and down the court.” '

MF still thinks I'm a rook lol. Looks like YOU don't have a handle for the hierarchy!

You know we're not in the Laker forum right?

Do the Blazers bring in random players to be bodies for training camp, or do they invite players they see talent in, who might fit with the team? We already have a third string pg in Bazz. But, hey insurance right. Though from what i've heard of this guy i'm not assured of anything

Can't shoot, but a decent defender.

He'll never see the floor
Are you implying that he should? He can't handle the ball well, is undersized to play SG, has many deficiencies in his game except for defense, and wouldn't fit next to Turner off the bench because neither can shoot.

Ya, in a round about way. They need bodies to bang on and go against our stars right? Them playing in games is as much a showcase for OTHER teams as much for us.

Oh, my bad. Thought you were talking about Meyers here.

I am a big Olshey fan, but I'm still annoyed that they brought in RJ Hunter into our summer league when we needed a PG. If you're gonna sign Briscoe to camp, why not sign him to SL to see if he can play point? Why did Pat play PG?

I wouldn't count him out by getting that 15 spot on this team. He went to Kentucky as a point guard he got the handles and court vision to play at this level. He strong going to the hoop and he play pretty good D. The thing about him he is strong and if he needs work on his jump shot that what's practices for to work on weakness. Napier is in his final year of his contract why not sign a player that will take his place for next year.
