Gray vs. McCullers

Lineups to follow...

Gardner -LF
Judge -RF
Gregorious -SS
Sanchez -DH
Bird -1B
Castro -2B
Hicks -CF
Frazier -3B
Romine -C

Long tailcat, room full of rocking chairs with Gray pitching. If the Yankees have to burn up the pen today and lose it would not make for a favorable future for this series.

...Gray, if you've ever pitched a solid game in your life, we need you to pitch one today.

...Yanx batters, particularly Judge and Sanchez need to be smart and remember that McCullers is predominantly a breaking ball pitcher...in fact, I believe he has one of the highest if not the highest curveball % than anyone else in the game.
...speaking of curveballs, I've noticed that Altuve has not been nearly as successful when given a steady diet of breaking balls.
...also, Girardi is starting Romine over Sanchez behind the plate...partially because of the "day game after a night game" thing but also because Gray throws a lot of breaking balls in the dirt and Romine is better than Sanchez at blocking those types of pitches.

..and oh, I know the writers probably voted otherwise for the MVP, but if you take "MOST VALUABLE player" literally there's no way Altuve is more "valuable" to the Astros as Judge is to the Yanx. The Astros won their division by a landslide (21 games) and would have still won it without Altuve...the Yanx would not have even sniffed the PS without Aaron Judge.

Judge can't miss those mistake pitches and get behind in the count. It's a lock he will wave and miss at that low and away pitch with two strikes.

...been going on for awhile...like I said, he "can't lay off 'em, and can't hit 'em".

...I think he's still learning how to pick up the spin and differentiate between a FB and a breaking ball, which likely makes him commit too early to swing.

At this rate, Gray will be out of the game by the 5th inning and McCullers will pitch a complete game. We have to make this kid throw more pitches.

You have to take advantage of Houston just not hitting at all. You cannot have a repeat of the first two games here.

...DiDi given an opportunity to get a free bunt hit on an outside pitch but instead swings hard and lines out to CF (Yanx could have easily had runners on 1st and 2nd with nobody out)
...Sanchez also fails with Judge on 1B.
...and then Judge has 3 brain farts during one play and is out on the base paths.

...I do not have a "warm and fuzzy feeling" about this game.

...lead off walk...this is where the game goes really sour.

Horrible start to the inning with a walk and catchers interference.

when I heard McCullers was the SP today, I did not have a warm fuzzy at all...

Hope they can figure his breaking balls out, and bust his...balls ie...

ntm- both have been outstanding, Gray met McC tit for tat...

The Yankees will have nobody to blame but themselves. Just no offense at all and far too many bad at bats.

3 innings to get 3 runs otherwise giant hole and have to beat keuchel and verlander in a row which may be too much even for this group. Need to rally and score a bunch of runs somehow and win this game.
