I am not so sure it is even possible until the American people demand help from there representatives.

While the unemployment rate is inching toward the all time low for the past 50 years, according to the stats as kept. But the true meaning of this stat is overwhelmed by the current labor participation rate. This is at the all time low and holding since it reached the low under Obama. Trump has not been able to move this rate by creating or saving jobs.

When you look at the percentage of the population that is retired, many lament the rapid increase in this segment of the population, rising 4% between 2000 and 2017. But this is not as nearly so high when compared with the overall population of the Nation. When viewed from this angle, the retired population has only increased 1% relative to the overall population. So the Labor Participation rate, at an all time high makes the unemployment rate rather meaningless.

The current 63% in Labor Participation rate leaves 37% unemployed! Subtract the 13% retired and half the 19% disabled (some can work), we have unemployment of about 15% of the overall population. The current stat of 7.4% unemployed suggest taking half of the disabled out is too many, so perhaps the real number is 17 or 18%.

Why?

Carrier is a prime example of what is happening to jobs. After the big deal of Trump Saving those jobs, the company backed out after the spotlight was turned off.
http://reason.com/blog/2017/01/04/trump-regulations-carrier-deal

Why?

US regulation adds cost. Minimum wage in the US is way higher and rising. Carrier will need to meet the $3.60/hr rate in Mexico.

This is a good article to show the current arguments in favor of the minimum wage.
http://econofact.org/do-minimum-wages-really-kill-jobs

"This evidence suggests that current debates should pay more attention to the positive effects of an increase in the minimum wage on living standards, on health and educational outcomes, on reducing inequality and on poverty reduction among low-wage households, rather than on employment effects."

Poverty Reduction! Reducing inequality! These are all feel good arguments. Not a damn thing about
about the harm done, the reasons why jobs are price out or forced to move.
Geez.!
When you compare the minimum wage as the Dems want at $15 bucks, and the Mexican $3.60
You ain't reducing inequality for anyone living in Indianapolis! That job is already gone! I have no doubt it will force some more to disappear. What happens to Poverty then? These negative effect land on the Black population first and most. You have to know those Carrier manufacturing jobs in Indianapolis are predominately black people being replace by Mexican labor. Reducing inequality? Well they do vote for the representatives that champion more of this mindless policy. 93% for Obama, 88% for Clinton, 95 or even 98% for the Dem in Alabama! Geez!

Trump can't change this, no one can until the American people realize what the hell is happening to them
when they vote for the liberal politician with a bag full of goodies he promises you to make you feel better.
These things are not about the humanity of the issues, it is about reality of the environment and whether you have job, not the morality of the guy that is going to make the vote.

The new Tax bill as written as of today will lower the Corporate Tax rate to 21% from our current 3rd highest in the world. This still leave the US in the middle ground, places like Ireland way less with 12.5% Will that be enough to help retain jobs in the US? Questionable in my view, when considering oppressive regulations like unreasonable efficiency standards, minimum wages that do not compare. Jobs will move to the competitive ground, unless you also prohibit them to leave. Not sure even a Democrat can figure out how to do that, but I am sure one will make the promise .

Are you still on your boat in California?

i thought trump said that moving jobs out of the US would be an "expensive mistake!"

"any business that leaves our country for another country, fires its employees, builds a new factory or plant in the other country, and then thinks it will sell its product back into the U.S. without retribution or consequence, is WRONG! There will be a tax on our soon to be strong border of 35% for these companies"

These are the lies that got the con man elected, at least for the people so gullible and desperate to believe this nonsense.

what we really need is MORE hot air from the pants shitting idiot. That will solve EVERYTHING!

I expect he would sign the bill if Congress would create it. I do not think they will. I know none of my representative would vote for this bill. Is it what you want?

I suppose the next Democrat that rides in to the rescue will garner the support of 95% of this board with stuff like,

Raise the Top tax rate to 41%
Raise the Corporate rate to 27%
Raise the minimum wage to $17.50
Propose a minimum income level.
Some redo of Universal Healthcare.

And then promptly go on vacation at Martha's Vineyard upon election.

Sounds good to me, I'm tired of working so hard. I'll just give up

Stop blaming Obama for BUSH'S unemployment rate. It's tiring.

Labor participation rate is the current biggy.

When I lived in S. California and watched the Lakers win a championship with West and Goodrich, they had a roster far more experienced than other teams. That's why they won.

Blazer fans take pride in setting records each year for youth. Then they wonder why they lose.

Employers favor young no-nothings, so everyone in his 50s is forcibly "retired" into early unemployment. Economists haven't yet noticed that Portland fans are making this country go down the drain.

Congress is likely on the verge of Passing a new Tax bill with very few Democrats voting in favor.
The above is why it is needed in my view, perhaps the top individual rate should be cut too.

But this did not get comment for the Left wingers and Socialist in S2. Why? What would you do to put Americans back to work? Or is that not the proper goal?

If work is the goal of the American people, how will the Dems that sit on their hand explain the no votes?

Most of the comment were the standard snark about Trump! Is impeaching Trump the only goal the left has? Is that healthy?

Short answer: tax bill has almost nothing to do with employment. Everything to do with making the rich richer and the poor poorer.

Well the rich are getting richer hiring non Americans where taxes are less. Haven't you noticed?

Right, and they will continue to do that. Cutting corporation's and rich people's taxes won't cause them to hire US workers. Why would you think it would?

Economists haven't yet noticed that Portland fans are making this country go down the drain.
Spoken like a true Sonics fan!...oh wait...they let their franchise go down the drain! All for the GNP!

Why would you think it would?

Well we can be quite sure they won't pay the highest rate when there is an alternative. Might not move either if the difference is not so grand.

Labor participation rate is the current biggy.
Nobody scrambling to take those empty Mexican labor jobs after deporting the workforce? American kids don't want to pick lettuce in the valley? Shocking?

I thought I explained this. Did you not read it?

No I did. I just find it funny how he railed on it being inaccurate, but now all the sudden when the numbers benefit his cause, he acts like it's 100% legit.

What more needs to be done then?

What more needs to be done then?

You might want to consider (since you are concerned about offshoring) the effect of eliminating corporate tax on foreign income, which is part of this bill.

Do you think that will make offshoring less likely, or more likely? Hmm?

eliminating corporate tax on foreign income
Isn't this intended to allow this money to be returned to the US for investment here. A huge sum of money I hear. I also think it is temporary to suck this cash back quickly. But... I don't know for sure, do you?

I even hear most Democrats favor this tactic, but not enough to vote for the bill.
If it works, 3 4 trillion go to work! Damn! That make start a boom! How will the Dems
explain voting no on that one?

Not for sure, because I haven't read the bill. But reports are that it is permanent.

You are unfortunately incorrect about the results of doing this. What it will do is encourage foreign operations, because they'll be even cheaper now. The boom will be overseas. Shareholders in those corporations will benefit, american workers will not.

No one will claim the US tax code isn't a horrible mess. Sadly this bill just makes it much worse.
