Last summer, people bemoaned everyone in our division got better than us. OKC was supposed to better than us but we swept them 4-0. At the trade deadline, lots of crying too but then we went on 13 game win streak, won the "improved" division and got the 3rd seed despite late season struggles. Yes, we got swept in playoffs but that doesn't erase all the good we did. Even without Davis, we still have a VERY talented roster. Collins is due for more minutes and that's probably why we let Davis go. I expect Nurk and Collins to improve this year and a top 3 seed is very much in play. Rockets lost Ariza and may lose Capela too. OKC is basically bringing back the same team. Lakers don't look much better than the Cavs team that finished 4th in EAST despite LeBron playing all 82 games. I accept my responsibility to cheer you up and tell you it's not as bad as you think.

We have lost 3/5 of our second unit, have no money to replace them with equal or greater talent, still have no starting caliber wing or backup pg, and we just let the only intimidator on our team walk over 4.5 mil. I think okc has gotten better too, especially if Evans signs there.

Neil is a dumbshit, always has been.

The summer is over already? Damn, I must have gone in a time machine. I didn't know that Napier and Connaughton were irreplaceable after a day and half of free agency.

@dviss1 and @BonesJones How did we do in the 3-on-3 Tourney? Was I there?

Unless Noel took the minimum to sign there or Evans is taking the minimum then they have no chance to get Evans.

To a point it's an overreaction.
But I also think it's a little emotional.

People got Nurk fever when Portland traded for him.
Then people saw Nurk was an inconsistent & raw 22/23 year old 7 footer.
They then saw Stotts bench Nurk multiple times for that, only for Ed Davis to take the reigns and hold down the center spot for large portions of the season.
They grew to love Ed, just like they loved Nurk during & after Nurk fever.

I just think most Portland fans see the hole left by Davis and are uneasy about going all-in with Nurk playing 30-35mpg at Center.
They're just unable to express that without getting super emotional and saying trade lillard/blow it up and tank.
Which is fine, fans are allowed to be such a way.

Why can't I see this thread? Oh if I could, I'm sure the first post is about how good we did last year and everybody did bad. And then it probably goes on to say how even though we have lost 1/4 of our rotation we will be better. Am I close? Wish i could see this thread.

The only thing I have to say to that is we don't know if the plan is to bring in a different backup center or not.

This is not a rhetorical question: what will it take for you to shrug and agree Olshey is garbage?
Props, I'm on record over and over again saying that if we don't improve this summer (either on the court or with some incredibly good future assets) I will turn on Olshey. So the first step to that is if the TPE expires on the 25th without being used.

When you don't have a lot of money to spend, the smart play is to wait. Every single year there are guys that hold out because they think they are better than the offers they are getting and end up signing for dirt cheap because all of their reasonable options moved on and used up their cap space. I've also stated numerous times why I think the TPE will get more valuable as each day passes.

Noel took the min, which is shocking cause they coulda got Nik for the min, they are wasting money big time.

I don’t use green font

It might be but I don't think so.
I think it's going to go down like this.

Lillard/CJ/rookie
CJ/Lillard/Turner & rookie
Harkless/Aminu/Stauskis/rookie
Aminu/Collins/Swanigan
Nurk/Nards/Collins

I don't think Collins can attain the starting 4 position unless Nards shows without a doubt he can be relied on as the backup 5.
I think the plan coming into the season is.
Nards showed he deserves more of a shot last year. But due Davis performing at a higher level than him for 3 seasons. Davis was forever ahead of him in the rotation.
Now Nards is in position to be the backup 5. But if he doesn't continue to show consistency. Collins will take that spot and Nards will be glued to the bench again.

Portland still will continue to look for wing help. As it's plainly clear to the FO that Portland plays at another level when their wings are a threat to score.

Who can we get and afford in FA that is better than either of them, let alone Davis? We might be able to trade but we will be giving up more assets to bring in those replacements. I see no possible way we go into next season with a better roster than we ended last year with, especially with Neil doing the grocery shopping.

Alright brother, I sure hope I join your team after the summer rather than the other way around.

LMAO, there is no possible way to find anyone better than Napier or Connaughton?

Yeah isn’t that sad!? Cause they both suck, but looking over the FA available I’m not seeing any viable upgrades given our cap issues and honestly other than the TPE what assets do we really have to make a trade with without getting rid of CJ/Dame/Zach?

Nobody is over reacting. Everybody is upset including the franchise player. The gm is a liar. He’s shit. Everybody wants him out. We have lost ed Davis, pat, Napier. Those guys logged minutes last season. Now we have a stand off with an over rated center in nurkic. Neil swung and missed again on a free agent, hezonja. We are worse than last season. Everybody got better like last season. We got worse. I have so little faith in this organization right now. Paul Allen and olshey are jokes. They don’t give a fuck about the fans.

We're not that bad!! Could be worse.

P.S. @KingSpeed Would you make us a Blazers Anthem? We need something like this:

Okay, now you're back to the real LayneStaley. I was a little worried when I was agreeing with your posts earlier.

There is ZERO evidence that Dame is upset other than being sad Davis left. He's been sad every time someone has been traded. You are just pretending like you know or something, you don't.

You also have ZERO evidence that there is a standoff with Nurk, that is made up.
