Okay, I've got a nasty schedule that takes me to the hospital before most of you wake up, three times a week. This results in insomnia for me. I got up at 1 am and will get up at 4 am tomorrow.

I've been stuck at the Atlanta airport for 12 hours. So, that.
Ewww I hope you have one of my best abilities. My wife is jealous that I can sleep just about anywhere.

Sitting in the car, on a plane or laying on a hard floor. Loud sounds don't even stop me.

I've had a few eye surgeries and any light at all keeps me awake.
For other reasons, I'm also sensitive to sound. This is all new to me. Ten years ago, I was like you. When I went to bed, I was asleep in 30 seconds. My wife also used to comment on how she wished she could go to sleep so rapidly. Now, she's the one that can sleep with lights on and sound galore.
I think it's because of all the surgeries and some of the illnesses. I take a massive amount of pills to keep me afloat. This may also contribute to my insomnia.
I also need the temperature just right and especially at night.
Getting old ain't for wimps.

I'm sure all of us have at one point. I fell asleep once coming back from the coast. Luckily it was late at night and on a relatively straight stretch of road...but for about 10 seconds I was out.
The brightest guy in my graduating class of extremely bright engineers, some of whom were your major designers of ICs at Intel, was coming back to Corvallis to go to Grad school when he fell asleep and ran off the road. He went down a canyon and was killed. They used to have a statue of him at OSU but I'm not sure if it's still there.

Me too. However, I was young at the time and hence stupid.

The grooves cut into the shoulder saved me from crashing. They should be everywhere

I bought a Tesla. Highly recommended, for just those reasons.

I was thinking about a Tesla but I think the maximum range is about 200 miles.
Also, they are very expensive.
My wife vetoed the idea.

I dropped parents off at LAX this AM. I went to Target afterwards.

Target here is open from 7am to midnight. That's fucking crazy.

I wish. I have a hang up about sleeping in front of people I don't know. My brain can't do it. Anyways, I finally made it. The hurricane damage is crazy here.

You are right, it's not even noon yet. I better go back to bed.

I am up so early because I get up before my wife and son for a cup of joe and some news. Then get my son ready, get him to school, and get to work

Finally, someone with a good excuse.

My normal day. The oldest (she's 4) gets up at 4:30-4:45ish every day. The middle child has a really hard time sleeping (we've actually had her in the hospital for sleep studies at times) she usually isn't able to calm herself down and get to sleep til about 10:30ish. So Typically I get to bed about 11:30ish and my oldest wakes me up at 4:30 - 4:45ish.
edit: the good news is the youngest has learned to love sleep!

I get a little more sleep than you. Not much. My son always comes in around that time to sleep in my bed. I get pushed to the very edge of the matress with a small corner of blanket. I try to sleep a bit longer, but usually get up not long after

Kids are both amazing and exhausting! When my oldest wakes up it's like she wakes up with a sugar high heh, she is definitely a super happy energetic morning person...
My wife and I used to take turns getting up with her but since my wife is pregnant again (20 weeks it's half way over!) I've been getting up with the kid so that my wife can sleep for another hour or so before I head to work.

Yes, they are! My son too. He's 6. That kid wakes up ready to go. I wish I had the kind of energy he has. I take turns with my wife. That's damn good of you to let her sleep. I am good with one kid. I don't need anymore.

I wanted maybe 1, wife wanted 4. I didn't expect to get what I wanted heh. If we go for 5 I could field my own basketball team.

Like when your wife continually yells, “NO NO NO.....I’M NOT IN THE MOOD MAN!”
We all sincerely feel really, really bad that that is the price you pay when you finally get home off the road...way to take it for the team!

Better use kneepads.

Me too. Three days after making the final double payment on a chevy s10, i fell asleep and totalled it into a tree. Blasted right through a T intersection. One of a couple scariest momemts of my life was waking up and Seeing trees fly by me. Lucky for me too because if not for the tree, i would have continued another 30 ft off about a 50ft cliff right into a mobile home park below... at about 3 am when they are all sound asleep on a weekNight(delivering newspapers when i was 22)
