Black people have effectively picked the last two candidates the DNC has put forth. Hillary and Biden both got their win from gaining a insurmountable lead in the southern states on super tuesday. If black people didn't like those two candidates they could have pushed through someone else, I feel like there were candidates both times who would have represented their interests better but we got who we got. Splitting votes into another party is not a winning idea, especially when your demographic is only about 14% of the total population.

It's also a great way to split progressive voters and allow to conservative bloc to retain their power.
Yes, but now we would have (likely) three major parties instead of two (I don’t consider the Independent Party....which I belong to...to be a serious contender into the foreseeable future). If there was a concerted movement to start a “black” party, with credible leadership, I strongly believe they’d become a fairly major threat in a short period of time. If they Successfully appeal to other minorities to join them, the current white power structure is screwed. Plain and simple. But it’s going to take organization and a lot of hard work. I hope they get going.

But, really I think the Democratic party has taken for granted the black vote. They need to get some shit done for African Americans if Biden wins in November.

The Dem lead house needs to too even if a republican senate vetoes their bills. They need to show they are serious and care.

Is having a token black person as the VP nominee sufficient?

It's more than that, Due to his current level of mental capacity, said VP had better be prepared to lead this country on Day-2. Strangely reminds me of Designated Survivor.

The term "token black" has long been considered offensive.

But to address your question I think if Biden selects a black american as vice president I think you will have to seen who the rest of his cabinet is before you can make that determination or claim.

Don't like this idea. The black community needs representation no doubt, but this isn't the way to do it. Republicans would LOVE for this to happen.

Like the Republicans do?

Does it matter? I don't believe black Americans possibly starting their own political party has anything to do with the representation they are or aren't getting from the republican party.

In my opinion, unfortunately any vote NOT for the democratic candidate is a vote FOR the Republican one.

You're right, they should just elect an obviously senile old establishment white man and have Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer take another knee wearing a Kunta Kintae scarf.

And if the Harris rumors are true, she has a bad track record as a DA with the black community and fairness.

The Black Community should elect someone who fights for them. Not these charlatans pre-approved by the DNC.

You think the dems will actually enact real change? Fuck no. I know y'all want Trump out, but to sell out as bad as the left will to get it done. Sad.
