I think it would make sense to make sure Dame or CJ are always on the floor, for this reason.

To me Harkless was on and off with his energy and accepting of his role. He struggled being 4/5th option.
I liked AFA and I think he playing the 4 now, is more conducive to the way the game is played today.

The first unit doesn't run and as of now, the 2nd unit needs to be run by Dame or CJ from the first unit unless Ant progresses a LOT. So the 2nd unit isn't going to run either. Portland is a walk it up, slow down, tough shots by Dame/CJ or kick out '3's for teammates. Not sure how any of that fits for Jones.

^^^^^^^^^^^^Exactly. DJJ went the route of Meyers in Miami. Played quite a bit in the regular season and then collected dust for the Playoffs for the most part.

Well said... you're not one of those "people" that keep getting cited then. I feel like this group of - hated Harkless/Aminu and love the Covington/Jones additions is a very small minority.

I didnt hate the pairing. I just always felt like we needed something similar but an improvement over the two. I think we likey got that here.

Why? Has either of them shown an interest in running a fast break on a consistent basis?

He's in his 4th year. Maybe give him some years before we bitch about how he did or didn't play last year?

They weren't going to get a player who has deep playoff experience for the MLE.

Basically, ZERO people didn't like Aminu/Harkless, we just didn't like them starting.

Now that we have somebody from the Heat here (not counting Whiteside because who knows what goofy answer he might give), I would ask him: How did a team like Miami, with no more superstars than us (in fact, one less), get into the finals? What are you guys doing differently on a day to day basis. Actually, if I was GM, I would call up Myers Leonard and ask him, because he would be able to compare the best. Doesn't this make a lot of sense? But I know it won't be done.

What doesn't make a lot of sense is them having one less superstar than we have or had... who the fuck is our second superstar? I only ask because we don't even have a second all-star.

Analyzing the game based off watching it is the right way to analyze the game. Looking at a piece of paper is not.

In the East playoffs, defense was their calling card. The 2-3 zone really took the wind out of teams with dudes that like to slash to the rim. Having a guy like Bam anchoring the defense obviously doesn't hurt.

When it came to the Lakers, I'd like to think they would have up up a tougher fight with a health Dragic, but who knows?

As a team trying to contend you make signings based on what you know a guy can give you, not based off what you hope a guy might be able to give years down the line.
